Pakistan’s army chief accused India of continuing to fuel instability in the region and warned it was fully prepared to counter any aggression from New Delhi as tensions between the two rivals remain high following a four-day armed conflict in May.

India on Monday accused its neighbour Pakistan of "sabre rattling" and "irresponsibility" after media reports on remarks about nuclear threats in South Asia made by Pakistan's army chief while on a visit to the United States.

Indian media reports quoted Pakistan's Field Marshal Asim Munir as saying: 'We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we'll take half the world down with us.'

British political commentator condemned Pak Army chief Gen Asim Munir's nuclear threats against India, calling them reckless. India's MEA had criticised the comments as irresponsible, reinforcing concerns over Pakistan's ties with terrorist groups.
