Tropical Storm Dexter is forecast to strengthen in the north Atlantic Ocean, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Dexter is continuing to head east-northeast to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean as it strengthens Wednesday morning, however forecasters say Dexter has a day or two left as a tropical system.

There’s a new tropical storm in the Atlantic Ocean, and two other disturbances that have a shot to get names as well. The National Hurricane Center named Tropical Storm Dexter late Sunday while it was several hundred miles off the coast of North Carolina. Dexter is headed away from the United States, however.

Tropical Storm Dexter, the fourth named storm of the 2025 hurricane season, was a bit weaker Tuesday morning as forecasters continue to track it and two other disturbances in the Atlantic Ocean, according to the National Hurricane Center. None of the systems pose an immediate threat to Louisiana.

Tropical Storm Dexter is moving further away from the East Coast, but it's still causing waves along the Delmarva coastline. Dexter is moving into the North Atlantic, away from North America. It will strengthen and become an extratropical low later today through Friday.

Tropical Storm Dexter is expected to continue strengthening and could get near hurricane strength in 48 hours.
