The Bank of England has cut its main interest rate by a quarter percentage point to 4%, as policy makers seek to bolster the sluggish U.K. economy.

Yet when Bailey and colleagues on the BoE’s Monetary Policy Committee chop U.K. borrowing costs on Thursday, they will be continuing to cut at a pace that makes the current easing cycle among the longest in British history, according to Deutsche Bank.

The Bank of England looks poised to cut interest rates for the fifth time in 12 months on Thursday but nagging worries about inflation are likely to split its policymakers and cloud the outlook for its next moves.
