Millions of East Bay commuters are adjusting to sweeping AC Transit changes that took effect Sunday, impacting nearly 85% of bus routes across Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

If you’re among the nearly 200,000 passengers who board an AC Transit bus every day, you’ve probably noticed the signs at bus stop announcing changes to most regular routes.

The Alameda County transit agency announced bus line changes that affect 3 million monthly riders starting Sunday .

Public transportation in the East Bay will see new bus lines and routes with additional or fewer stops as transit agencies work to increase efficiency. AC Transit told KTVU its changes are meant in part to address a $41.

The Realign Service Changes will impact 104 bus lines, with adjustments to frequency, new routes, and the discontinuation of some lines, according to AC Transit officials.
