As of this writing, the Cubs have yet to announce a new start time. A storm system is set to move through the Chicagoland area at around 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT, which will force the tarp to be put on the field — and eventually taken off. All of that takes a bit of time, obviously, which could account for the preemptive delay.

An extremely dry stretch of weather in the Chicago area is about to come to an end, with rain and a threat of severe weather looming in the forecast. The change in the forecast is expected to arrive Friday morning,
