The final defendant charged in the 2008 shooting death of an off-duty Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in Cypress Park was among more than two dozen fugitives returned to the United States from Mexico,

Deputy Juan Escalante was fatally shot in 2008 in Cypress Park. On Tuesday, the final suspect wanted in connection with his death was transferred to the United States after he was captured in Mexico.

Roberto Salazar, long sought in connection with the shooting of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Juan Escalante, was returned to the U.S. by Mexican authorities on Tuesday along with several high-ranking cartel members.
