The boil water notice for residents in Granada Hills and Porter Ranch has been lifted after an outage in service due to emergency repairs. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power announced Tuesday that tap water for the affected areas has been deemed safe to drink and use.

Days after Granada Hills and Porter Ranch lost water service, L.A. Mayor Karen Bass and other officials urged thousands of customers to stop using water, saying toilet flushes and lawn sprinklers were slowing repairs.

Thousands of San Fernando Valley residents were expected to remain without water through the weekend as repair work continues days after their service was first interrupted on Tuesday.
