Tropical Storm Erin -- which is forecast to strengthen into the first hurricane of the Atlantic season by Saturday morning -- won't have a direct impact on the U.S., but it will bring dangerous rip currents to the East Coast.

Tropical Storm Erin could bring dangerous rip and surf currents to the New York City area, according to the National Hurricane Center. The system is expected to move north of the Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico by this weekend.
