Users can turn off the Instagram map and location sharing options in the Instagram settings page: On Instagram, tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner Under the “Who can see your account” category, select “Story, live and location” Visit “Location sharing (Instagram map),” and select “no one”

If you're still uncomfortable, you can easily disable the feature within the app to ensure your location is not shared with anyone. Instagram notes that if you haven't already enabled location access for the app, the map feature is disabled by default. Mosseri also said that design improvements for the map would be released soon.

Instagram has introduced three new features: the ability to repost reels and posts, a location-based map that’s similar to Snapchat’s Snap Map, and more,

“Your last reel is showing up on the map, not your current location. Your live location is not being shared, and it will never be unless you decide to share it,” writes Mosseri. In another post, he promised, “We’ll get out a few design improvements as quickly as possible,” potentially by next week.
