The Cincinnati Reds held a brief optional workout Thursday night, a quick meeting to honor their manager Friday, then beat the New York Mets.

The Cincinnati Reds won their sixth game out of their last seven on Saturday, beating the New York Mets 5-2. The Reds trailed 2-0 for the second game in a row, but rallied in the third to tie the game on a Mets throwing error and a Matt McLain single.

Terry Francona has added another milestone to his impressive career. Francona became the 13th manager in major league history to reach 2,000 wins when the Cincinnati Reds beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2.

The 66-year-old had a franchise-record 921 wins in 11 years with Cleveland, 744 in seven seasons with Boston, and 285 in his first stop at Philadelphia.

In the three seasons Francona led the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians to American League pennants, winning two World Series with Boston, Francona's teams averaged 45 wins after the All-Star Break. If the Reds win 45 games in their final 65 games after the All-Star Break, that means the Reds would finish 95-67.
