Ford produced 57 examples of the Fairlane 500 equipped with the 425-hp 427 V-8 in 1966; all were Wimbledon White with black all-vinyl interior, and all had four-speed manual transmissions.
By 1965, Carroll had already developed a new chassis and dropped Ford's 427-cubic-inch (7.0-liter) FE engine under the hood. The 1966 Roadster you see here is one of those cars.
The automaker's answer was a 7.0-liter, 426-cubic-inch displacement engine. It used the same block as Ford's earlier 427 FE V8 but incorporated numerous performance upgrades to improve power output.
