Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen is touting new security measures. That includes a partnership with the Department of Homeland Security and adding an invisible emblem to election ballots.

Measures to increase early voting in the United States have worked so well that this year, at least one-third of all general election ballots will be cast before Nov. 2, the New York Times reports.

The special general election is on January 13, 2026. The district includes parts of Walker County. Republican Matt Woods previously held the seat and was elected to the Alabama Senate on June 24.
