CRANBROOK — A man has suffered "significant" injuries after a grizzly bear attack in the British Columbia Interior. The province's Conservation Officer Service says in a post on Facebook that the attack happened at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday along the Kootenay River near West Creston, B.C.

A husband and wife’s leisurely bike ride along a Canadian trail took a terrifying turn over the weekend when they spooked two grizzly bears, causing them to attack. Local authorities said quick thinking by the woman likely saved both their lives as she used bear spray to drive the animals away.

British Columbia's Conservation Officer Service says a grizzly attack on a couple in the province's Interior over the weekend was likely "defensive in nature," and it's unlikely the bears were stalking people.
