The Rosa Fire burning along Highway 74 grew to more than 1,600 acres with 15% containment Tuesday afternoon, according to an update from Cal Fire.

The Gifford Fire, a wildfire burning in Central California that has destroyed over 83,000 acres in six days, continues to rage and is now the largest blaze in the state this year, according to Cal Fire.

The Rosa Fire on Highway 74 remained at 1,200 acres Tuesday morning, according to an early report from Cal Fire. The blaze had first been reported at around 12:30 p.m., Monday, near Ribbonwood, a small community about 15 miles south of Palm Desert.

Firefighters are battling a blaze at two thatched cottages in a Suffolk village. Crews were called to the corner of Greyhound Road and Egremont Street in Glemsford at 09:38 BST. The roof of one of the properties was 75% alight and the fire had spread to the neighbouring home.
