Visitors are being warned to avoid Lake Alice in William O’Brien State Park in northern Washington County after a dam failure over the weekend caused a “significant drawdown” of the lake level, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials said.

Officials are working to restore a lake northeast of the Twin Cities after a "mechanical issue" caused nearly all the water to drain.

The DNR says a "mechanical failure of the water control structure" caused the 26-acre lake in northeastern Washington County to drain over the weekend.
