The San Francisco 49ers do not expect to have receiver Brandon Aiyuk on the field for the season-opening game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 7.

It's becoming more and more likely that the San Francisco 49ers could be without one of their top playmakers when the regular season gets underway. During an appearance on KNBR's "The Murph & Markus Show" on Thursday,

As for Aiyuk, Week 1 was always a long shot. It’ll be interesting to see if the 49ers keep a roster spot open and leave the door cracked for Aiyuk to return within the first four weeks. The other option would be to think big picture and place Aiyuk on the PUP list, where he’d return no sooner than Week 5.
