Thousands of homes have been left without power after “significant disruption” caused by Storm Floris. The Scottish Government called an emergency meeting in response to the storm as delays on rail, roads and sea continued into Tuesday. ScotRail said suspended routes would not be reopened until around 4pm.

Staff worked through the night to clear rail tracks blocked by fallen trees and debris after high winds affected roads, flights and ferries - and left thousands without power.
