Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has issued two writs of special election to fill the vacancies left behind in the State Senate by Senator Bruce Anderson and Senator Nicole Mitchell.

The Senate currently stands at 33 Democrats and 32 Republicans following the resignation of Mitchell and the unexpected death of Anderson.
