WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (AP) - Joe John, a former North Carolina appeals court judge, state crime lab director and state House member, has died at age 85. John’s family made the announcement Wednesday.

John, who was 85, served on the state Superior Court and Court of Appeals, ran the state Department of Motor Vehicles and state crime lab before winning his first term in the state House in 2016.
