SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon State Senate has voted to override a governor's veto for the first time in more than 10 years, passing a measure that aims to strengthen legal protections for foster youth.

The Senate overrode Kotek’s veto of the bill, which is the first time this has happened in the Oregon Legislature since 2011. The override passed with a 21-6 vote.
