Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn said Saturday wide receiver Terry McLaurin told him directly about his request to be traded amid a contract dispute, but the coach has not addressed the matter with the other players as the team continues to prepare for the season.

Amid an ongoing contract dispute, Washington’s star wide receiver remains popular among fans, teammates, coaches and even the owner.

Terry McLaurin officially requested a trade from the Commanders on Thursday, Jordan Schultz first reported. The Commanders' wide receiver has been with the team since he was drafted in 2019, but he's set to be a free agent after the 2019 season.
