Heavy rain has developed across New England, and this means some slow travel over the course of the day and night as roads are covered in the rainfall. A few thunderstorms may enhance our rainfall rates of 1-3 inches per hour in localized spots.

Since January, more than 3,100 flash flood warnings have been issued nationwide — the highest year-to-date total since tracking began for alerts in 1986.
