George Mason faces another DEI investigation — this time from the Justice Dept.
Police shot and killed a 52-year-old man armed with a crossbow near Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge, Virginia, on Thursday, Prince William County police said. Harrison Charles Deppe, of Woodbridge was the man killed by police, the department said in an update Friday. He was 52. Officers investigating a report of a man displaying a firearm found the suspect in a car near Garza Way and Potomac Mills Circle about 2:45 p.m. Thursday, police said. Police said they tried to negotiate a peaceful surrender for hours. After officers surrounded Deppe’s car to take him into custody, he got out of the car and ran toward the mall with a crossbow, police said. That’s when police fatally shot him. No one else was injured during the encounter. Deppe was suspected of brandishing a firearm at someone walking on Colchester Road Wednesday, police said. As police continued searching for him Thursday, he reportedly was involved in a similar incident on Birchdale Avenue. Prince William County police requested the regional Critical Incident Response team lead the investigation. News4 sends breaking news stories by email.
