The destructive Dragon Bravo Fire north of the Grand Canyon saw some minor growth on Saturday as containment of the fire remained the same.

The Dragon Bravo fire has been burning for more than a month, fueled by record-low humidity that has hampered containment efforts.

A fierce blaze that has burned along the Grand Canyon's North Rim since being sparked by lightning on July 4 has exploded in size in recent days, reaching "megafire" status and becoming the largest wildfire in the U.S. this year, according to the Arizona Republic.

Wildfires burning at the Grand Canyon and in Utah are so hot that they're spurring the formation of "fire clouds" that can create their own erratic weather systems.

Gov. Katie Hobbs landed about 25 miles north of the rim near De Motte Campground and first toured the fire camp, where fire personnel were staged.

Researchers from the University of Cambridge have unearthed thousands of microscopic fossils from the iconic Canyon, including a new species.

As of Aug. 10, 1,326 personnel are working to contain the fire, which is being fueled by mixed conifer, aspen regeneration and ponderosa pine.

The Dragon Bravo Fire near the Grand Canyon's North Rim lost containment, dropping to 13% due to dry, windy weather. The fire grew to 45,000 acres and advanced four miles north, threatening structures near the park's north entrance.
