With the possibility of free agency looming once again, Pete Alonso was asked during this week’s All-Star Game media day about his desire to remain with the Mets.

But perhaps its best decision was to bring back franchise slugger Pete Alonso on a relatively cheap deal. After prolonged negotiations, the Mets landed him on a two-year, $54 million contract with a player option after this season and he has rewarded that decision with another All-Star season.
