The L.A. Department of Water and Power says the Santa Ynez Reservoir, which was empty at the time of the Palisades fire, is now back online after lengthy repairs to its floating cover.

Some are questioning why the Santa Ynez reservoir, located in the Palisades Highlands, was offline during the firefight. The reservoir has a capacity of holding 117 million gallons of water.

The Santa Ynez Reservoir can hold up to 117 million gallons, which is 359 acre-feet of water. One acre-foot of water is roughly equivalent to the volume of two Olympic-size swimming pools.
