There’s a new tropical storm in the Atlantic Ocean, and two other disturbances that have a shot to get names as well. The National Hurricane Center named Tropical Storm Dexter late Sunday while it was several hundred miles off the coast of North Carolina. Dexter is headed away from the United States, however.

Tropical Storm Dexter is well off the coast of North Carolina and moving out to sea. The storm is going to have a short life. It’s already encountering hostile upper-level winds, so it will soon be absorbed into the North Atlantic flow.

Lastly, disturbance number three features a tropical wave that will move off the west coast of Africa on Monday towards the central Atlantic where it could see some gradual development, with the possibility of a tropical depression forming late in the week. The next name for a storm will be Dexter.
