The government has said supporters of a "terrorist organisation will feel the full force of the law" after a protest in support of the proscribed group Palestine Action led to more than 500 arrests on Saturday.

Police in London have detained more than 466 people who were protesting the United Kingdom’s decision to ban the Palestine Action Group, marking the “largest ever mass arrest” at a single protest in the British capital, according to campaigners.

A former government adviser to Sir Tony Blair and Gordon Brown said it was a “privilege” to be arrested at a Palestine Action protest. Sir Jonathon Porritt, 75, was previously chairman of the sustainable development commission, first set up by Sir Tony in 2000, and was one of Labour’s leading environmental advisers at the time.
