Microsoft smells blood in the water, and it seems to be exclusively gunning for Apple’s latest ultra-thin laptops and iPads with devices sporting all-day batteries and ARM-based processors that boast better performance with better energy efficiency.

To go along with its redesigned Surface Pro, at its event today, Microsoft gave the tablet's keyboard a makeover too by adding improved stability, better haptics and even a bold font option for added readability.

Overall, the Surface Pro feels very responsive just like any other Windows laptop. It’s not obvious that there’s a Qualcomm chip inside here, and if Microsoft’s big promises of app compatibility, performance, and battery life play out, then this could be a very interesting moment for the next Windows devices like the Surface Pro.
