Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated his refusal to designate Hamas as a terrorist organization, dismissing concerns raised by a senior US Treasury official about this country’s alleged support for the group’s financial operations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday pushed back against mounting US pressure to cut Ankara's historic ties with Hamas in the wake of the militants' unprecedented attacks on Israel. Erdogan said on Saturday that Washington was well aware that Turkey does not view Hamas as a terrorist organisation.

The Turkish president also said that Hamas must have a role in Gaza beyond the war that began with their brutal October 7 attack on Israel
