Solitude is slated to close in seven days — Snowbird said it will remain open through Memorial Day. Chains or snow tires were required for travel through Parleys Canyon because of weather conditions.

A weather phenomenon more common in spring caused snow to fall in many valleys this weekend, causing a rare but not terribly uncommon sight for Utahns.

A winter storm warning remains in effect in the mountains of northern Utah, and snow and cold overnight temperatures will continue in the valleys through midweek, according to the National Weather Service.
