The third of three defendants convicted in the 2022 firebombing of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Southern California – a 22-year-old Irvine man – was sentenced Thursday to six years in prison, the US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said.

Tibet Ergul, who was an active-duty Marine, allegedly wanted to make a statement about abortion and scare pregnant women from getting abortions, officials said.

Tibet Ergul is the final defendant to be sentenced in the 2022 attack. Ergul also pleaded guilty in February to federal charges of conspiracy to damage an energy facility.

A 22-year-old Irvine, California, man was the last of three suspects to be sentenced over an attack on an Orange County reproductive health clinic in 2022.
