Benjamin Ritchie was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in 2002 for the Sept. 29, 2000, fatal shooting of 32-year-old Beech Grove Police Officer William Toney.

HAMMOND — A Gary man was sentenced Tuesday to 68 months in federal prison after he pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon.
