DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — An Israeli airstrike hit a school sheltering thousands of displaced Palestinians in northern Gaza on Thursday, killing at least 11 people and wounding 22, including women and children, the territory’s Health Ministry said.

At least 51 Palestinians have been killed and 165 injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.

An Israeli strike on a school in northern Gaza on Saturday killed at least 22 people and wounded another 30, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, while the Israeli army said that it targeted a Hamas command center in what used to be a school.

The Israeli army said it struck Hamas' “command and control center, which was embedded inside a compound that previously served” as a school.
