Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) resigned from Congress just before the House Ethics Committee was set to hold a potentially pivotal meeting on its investigation into the Florida congressman, Axios has learned.

The House Ethics Committee is due to meet after previously failing to reach an agreement on releasing the ethics report about Matt Gaetz.

The House will soon vote on releasing the findings of an Ethics Committee investigation into his alleged misconduct.
