INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. (AP) — A park ranger died while trying to save three people during a water rescue at a national park in Minnesota.

A memorial in International Falls Sunday honored the life and service of Voyageurs National Park Ranger Kevin Grossheim.

The family swam to safety, but the park ranger went under water. Their body was pulled out of the water after a three-hour search, according to the national park.

The ranger was responding to an emergency call from Namakan Lake, located in Minnesota's Voyageurs National Park.
