Robert Salesses will serve as acting defense secretary until President Donald Trump's choice for the position, Pete Hegseth, is confirmed by the Senate, two U.S. officials said on Monday.
“Mr. Robert G. Salesses was sworn in at [12:01 p.m.] to serve as the acting secretary of defense today at the Pentagon,” said a defense official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Robert Salesses will serve as the acting secretary of defense until President Donald Trump‘s nominee, Pete Hegseth, gets confirmed by the Senate, which is expected to occur later this week.
