Scotland has recorded its warmest day in more than two years, as the third heatwave of the summer peaks, with temperatures in Northern Ireland and Wales also potentially breaking records on Saturday. The Met Office said that Aviemore hit 30C, adding that Scotland last exceeded the same temperature on June 13 2023.

The heat could peak at 31C in Perthshire and inland Aberdeenshire, with 27C expected in the Central Belt and north east Scotland.
