I have owned a few bread machines in the last few years. I bought a cheap one during Covid which lasted about a year and broke just after the warranty expired. My wife bought me the Jozirushi mini bread maker which we love and keep at another house. It's very expensive, so when I was shopping for a new bread machine to replace the cheap one that died, each search kept bringing up this Cuisinart bread maker. Review after review and dozens of videos later, I decided to order the Cuisinart compact bread maker. I am SO glad I did, because this bread maker is just perfect. First off, it's a nice small size which easily sits on the counter without taking up much space. It also looks good in stainless and matches our appliances. The instruction booklet is very thorough and informative and has many bread and pastry and yogurt recipes to try. It makes GREAT bread. My first attempt at a French bread loaf came out perfect..delicious and fluffy with crisp crust. The controls of the machine are so easy to see and easy to follow. I like how it has a light so you can see the progress through the glass panel. The other feature which I find so convenient is that the machine beeps 10 times alerting you that dough making is over and the baking cycle is about to start. This "warning" allows you to remove the paddle from the machine so it doesn't get baked inside the loaf leaving an awful hole. I also use this setting whenever I make the dough but bake in the oven..I do this when making baguettes or rolls. It's a really useful feature/option of this machine. I am really so happy with this machine, and relieved all the reviews I read and videos I watched were true and accurate. I got it Black Friday, so saved some $, but even without that sale, it is a very fair price ad well worth it. I also felt confident buying a brand like Cuisinart. I highly recommend this bread machine.

I have had zero luck baking bread on my own, so the idea of a machine that would do it for me with me just adding the ingredients seemed impossible. This is compounded by the fact that I am one of those annoying vegans and sometimes my substitutions don't always jibe with baking recipes.\n\nWell, I can tell you that my first loaf with this machine, substituting oat milk powder and plant-based unsalted butter, turned out perfectly. Frankly, I was expecting a learning curve, for my first loaf to come out misshapen and inedible, but nope -- 3 hours and 15 minutes after I hit start, I had an almost perfect loaf of bread that tasted great. I baked a 1 lb loaf since there's only two people in my household.\n\nThe machine is not very loud at all, and it's way smaller than I imagined it would be. I did not remove the paddle after the 3rd rise, but the hole it left was not that bad (round, size of a nickel), and I had zero issues getting the loaf out of the pan -- slid right out, paddle remained fastened to the pan.\n\nI researched so many machines -- some were too big, some too small, some had too many complaints about burnt or botched loaves, so I am pleased with this purchase. Pizza dough, jam, and pretzels are next in my list of things to try.

So this 2lbs bread maker does exactly what it claims to do. It makes great bread.\nIt doesn't have add in compartments and fancy things, but I didn't want it to. I wanted a solid bread maker that could make home made delicious white bread, and doughs without preservatives for my family. On this it performed ten out of ten. I have had it around a month and I use it around twice a week. Once to bake a white bread, and once to make a dough or two, depending on the need.\nI recommend using a bread machine yeast. It seems to just work better.\nWith each recipe it takes me around two or three tries to get it just right. After that I can make it repeatable over and over. \nThe baking pot, I guess I would call it is easy to wash by hand right after use, and I let it air dry and return it to the machine. I haven't tried the delay function yet, but I tend to get up early and kick off my bread so it is hot and ready when needed. \nThe unit isn't what I would call tiny, but it fits neatly on a counter corner and isn't in the way that much.\nIt will be interesting to see how well it performs over two or three years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cuisinart Compact Automatic Bread Maker has officially made me “that” person: baking fresh loaves on a Tuesday like it’s nothing. It’s compact but mighty, quiet but powerful, and the crust settings? Perfect every time!\n\nI used to dread buying whole loaves at the store—too many ingredients I couldn’t pronounce, and way too much bread for one person. I was constantly tossing out half-used loaves. Now I bake the perfect amount, exactly how I like it.\nI love how the machine lets me remove and reshape the dough when the timer goes off—it makes me feel like I did all the hard work, even though the bread maker deserves all the credit. Bonus points for letting me get hands-on without getting overwhelmed.\n\nThis little machine isn’t just a bread maker—it’s a money maker too, because now I’m keeping more of my dough in my pocket!\n\nHighly recommend it to anyone who wants fresh bread without the waste (or the hassle).

Do Pre measure flour for recipes to assure exactness which is not in described in bold. Aside from that measurement I found the recipes quite foolproof. Brioche mimicked my Eastern European mother's Easter bread sans raisins, and being of Lithuania background the rye bread recipe disappoints relative to our native culture bread. Focaccia and pizza recipes perfect especially for last minute quests and all the recipes were excellent to follow with wonderful pillowy tops once done. Only downside is importance of weighing the flour and wished the directions included grams. King Arthur came through with exact measurements in gr weight. Recommend using. \nIf you ever tried hand made bread you know how long the process is. With this unit, you can go to sleep and be confident it is working for you. It seemed to make good soft dough, i removed the paddle at the approximate time. \nIt seamed to do it's job well, EXCEPT baking. I tried making about 7 loaves, they all looked nice, they looked and smelled beautiful after baking, well one loaf over flowed and what a mess but that's not why i returned it.\nAll except one loaf, i was making the 2lb loaf following the instructions out of the cuisinart cook book that came with the machine. I tried different methods like i weighed everything in grams, next time i weighed everything in ounces, next i the standard measurement cups and spoons. I even went and bought a second scale incase my other one wasn't calibrating properly. I Followed instructions to the T\n\nI repeated these methods at minimum twice. Every loaf came out to heavy wet and doughy like. I waited for each loaf to cool completely before slicing. \nMy final loaf i made a 1.5lb loaf and i followed the instructions from the robinhood.ca site, ulthough it came out out the least wet and heavy it still wasn't a perfect loaf. \nI was going to next tey just making the dough then bake it in my standard oven BUT i looked at receipt, it had to be returned that day or never.\nI made the chose to return it.\nI'm assuming with all the great revoews this machine has, people must be just making the 1 or 1.5 lb loaves or making the dough in the machine then baking it in the regular oven.\nI'm thinking I'm agreeing with the folks that said the bread pan is way to small so the dough can't expand properly so it ends up too dense, heavy and wet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like to bake and maintain my own sourdough starter, but it's often hard to justify the effort involved in making a homemade loaf. I typically use no-knead recipes to minimize the work required, but I often wonder what you lose by not kneading the dough. This little machine makes it very easy to bake bread including all the proper kneading. Getting it started is trivial...just dump in the ingredients in the order specified, select the proper settings, and press start. A basic recipe can take just a few minutes to get going, and a few hours later you have hot bread. I've made a french loaf, and also used it to knead and rise a sourdough loaf that I then baked in the oven and both attempts resulted in excellent results. There are very few things in life better than fresh baked bread and this machine makes it so easy.

But the best thing about it is that it makes terrific bread, rolls and dough. I especially love the feature that signals when to remove the paddle before baking so the loaf doesn't have a hole in the bottom! I haven't tried any of the other functions yet but I plan to since it does bread so well. My only complaint is that the stainless steel marks up quite easily and the marks don't clean off well. I live in Florida and am having a problem with slightly dense loaves - they taste great but don't look as good. I'd like to see the company publish some unusual troubleshooting/fixes because the usual corrective action (adjusting water/flour) for this isn't working.

If you have doubts, don't hesitate to purchase the Cuisinart Compact Automatic Bread Maker! Note: I read a few reviews saying you can't make the full 2lb loaf; that it's too "much" for the bread maker. I've found that not to be true & have only made the largest 2lb loaves, & with no problem! I will say the loaves are smaller than I thought they'd be, but with 2 in our household it is perfect! A larger family may need at least 2 loaves a week, depending on how thick you slice the bread.

I've had to experiment some to adjust the moistness or lack of moistness of the dough during the cycles leading up to the baking process. I found that during the 2nd Knead cycle, I need to add 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon of extra flour as this machine requires that much more than recipes call for to become more elastic and springy. Once I figured that out, I had better success with the quality of the finished product, either on a dough cycle, or on a full cycle baking the bread. Every bread machine is different as I learned with my first bread machine, a Hitachi that was 40 years old before it stopped heating up. I have found over the years that every Cusinart product I've purchased was a quality product and this bread machine is no different than the rest of my Cuisinart appliances.

Love this bread maker. In my opinion a 1 1/2 pound loaf turns out better than a 2 pound loaf. If I want a 2 pound loaf I am usually making buns out of the dough or will raise the final raise in a bread pan. The dough raises actually too much for what height is allowed for the bread and will stick on the inside top of the machine. It will usually fall a little and you can get a funny looking top. This bread maker takes all the work out of making your own dough and bread. I have no problem with it jumping around on the counter nor get the counter warm. Works very good for me. Included pictures of the 2 pound loaf, but the 1 1/2 pound loaf look perfect.

Cons: this is a simple bread maker and you cannot adjust the length of time for proofing and mixing meaning some recipes you find online may not turnout as well as you would like. The instructions have a few typos and can be a bit confusing. The instructions do not give the time in minutes for each of the programmed routines.
