I never realized I would be this excited about a dryer. Installation by The Home Depot was fast and efficient. The first thing I noticed was how sleek and modern the matte black is. I absolutely am in love with the color of this dryer as well as the lack of buttons. The control panel is one giant knob that you turn and everything else is a touch screen. The touch screen does show fingerprints. \n\nThis dryer connects to your phone using the LG ThinQ app. It is fairly self explanatory and easy to follow after you play around with the app. The app connects to the dryer and you have almost full functionality of controls through your app. I first changed the beep when laundry is done to play the tone “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” There are a handful of songs you can choose from in the app. I also changed the icon on the LED screen on the knob when you first turn on the dryer. \n\nThe first load I dried was a medium to large sized load of laundry. I chose to use the Energy Saver option. The estimated time to dry was 55 minutes. As the load kept drying, the amount of time left increased. In the end it took about 2 hours to dry my laundry using the Energy Saver option. This option is not one I will use as it just takes too long to dry. During my first use, I noticed a squeaking noise with the drum that would periodically occur. This squeaking noise has occurred with every load of laundry I have dried since and, while it is minor, I do plan on reaching out to LG support. \n\nEvery load of laundry I have dried since, I have turned off the Energy Saver option. My laundry would be dried in around 45-55 minutes. I love how I have the option to see how much time I have left on my phone. From the app, you are able to turn on your dryer but you cannot start the dryer from your app. For safety reasons, you must first start the dryer from the control panel and then once it is turned on, you are able to turn the dryer off and on from your phone. This is a very convenient option when you are away from the dryer and quickly turn it on for another 5 minutes before wrinkles set in. \n\nI have also been using the AI and fabric detector settings. When you choose this option, it automatically detects the type of fabric and how much time is needed to dry. I have really liked this option while drying. Other settings I have used include Low Static, Steam, Damp Signal, and Wrinkle Care. I love Wrinkle Care as it will periodically tumble your laundry so wrinkles don’t set in. The other setting that rocked was Steam. I took a couple clean dress shirts that were wrinkled and needed to be ironed and used the Steam setting. It took the wrinkles out in about 10 minutes. No need to iron the shirts anymore! When using the Low Static setting, I didn't notice any change as I normally use fabric softener sheets. The Damp Signal works as indicated and alerts you when the clothes are almost dry but just slightly damp in case you want to iron them or hang them. \n\nThe dryer itself has a huge capacity. Much bigger than I anticipated but the feature that literally made me gasp was the door. You are able to open the door to the side or down like an oven door without changing the settings on the door. It is so convenient when loading and unloading laundry. \n\nThe app also allows you to see past times you have used your dryer as well as energy monitoring and how many Wh of energy you use when drying. There is also an option to diagnose any issues you have with the Smart Diagnosis option. You hold your phone close to the dryer and it will talk to your phone if there are any issues. \n\nI would highly recommend this dryer as it adds style to my laundry room. I am deducting one star due to the squeaking that is occurring but overall, this is a fantastic dryer.

We needed a large dryer to match our large washer and the LG 7.3 cu ft Gas Dryer was the perfect match. It is just plain huge. Large comforters? Tons of heavy towels? No problem with this unit. it handled loads of every size, large and small, quickly and quietly. \r\nThe controls are intuitive to understand and very easy to use, The settings are pretty basic and there is no need for a degree in programming to use this machine. The Dry Cycles mirror many similar cycles you might find on a washing machine, which makes a lot of sense. The dryer defaults the Temp and Dryness level settings, but those can be overridden depending on the cycle you are running. Manual settings allow you to adjust the Temp and Time and the Sensor Dry settings let you adjust the Dry Level of the load. \r\nWe did find that when we dried mixed loads of heavy and thin materials, the thin clothing was dry, while Jean waistbands and sweatshirts might still be slightly damp. The heavy setting does a nice job on large loads of towels. Delicates-lighter items were good, but the knits were still a little damp.\r\nThe dryer, like many modern dryers, plays various tones/"music" at various phases of starting and stopping. It is not very loud, which could be good or bad, depending on if you want to hear it or not. It definitely was not loud enough to be heard upstairs when installed in the basement.\r\nThe controls could benefit from backlighting as they are not easy to read in the dark. The lights are very visible, but it's hard to tell what they are indicating. An interior light would also be helpful.\r\nThe unit was really easy to install, requiring just the connection of the flex gas line, testing for leaks, connecting the vent and plugging in the 120VAC cord. In spite of its massive size, it was not heavy and was easy to get down a set of basement stairs. LG recommends running no more than 8 feet of vent. The unit vents the gas exhaust out with the dryer exhaust, so no need for a flue or multiple vents. The legs were very easy to level as well. We were really pleased with the ease of installation, which we did ourselves. \r\nAs far as electronics goes, you won't be controlling this one with your voice activated assistant, but it does have a slick self-diagnosis capability LG calls "Smart Diagnosis" . It is very easy to use and can be used in a phone call to LG customer Information Center, or on your own smart phone using their SmertThinQ app. We used it just to check it out and found that the instructions on the screen makes it very simple to use (see picture of app). You start the dryer, press the Temp button until a countdown appears on the dryer screen and a series of tones is audibly sent from the dryer to the phone and it provides a diagnosis. Of course, the dryer has to be able to be powered on to use this feature, but this is much easier to use than some of the cryptic codes and blinking lights on older dryer diagnostic tools.\r\nAll in all, we are very pleased with this unit. It's size and wide range of performance on large and small loads make it a delight to use.

I have likes and dislikes about this dryer! In my opinion LG products are Wonderfull. I already own many of their products and all have worked and held up well. I like the shape of the dryer and it looks great overall. It was easy as all gas dryers to install. NOTE: make sure you pick up the gas connection kit before your unit arrives as they are never included!\nThe levelers were easy to reach and adjust.\nI don't really like a side opening door on a dryer as cloths can fall on the floor as they are being inserted or removed. In my case the dryer in on the basement floor. \nIt has the option to mount the door left or right side but not the bottom.\nAs I said the dryer dries cloths quickly and efficiently with a verity of modes, but some of the are very confusing. Depends the the mode, some perimeters can be adjusted some can't which is frustrating.\nThere are options for more changes available throughout the LG ThinQ app but it too seems confusing and I have a degree in electronics and network eng. I do like that energy data is sends to your phone as well as dryer status and diagnostics \nAll and all I would suggest this unit to everyone

I have owned and operated this LG dryer for about one month, and so far I'm very pleased with it. This is a SMART dryer in that you can install the LG ThinQ app on your phone, and operate the dryer from your phone. It even has remote start which allows you to start your dryer from a location other than your home. Nifty! \nThis dryer has 7.3 cubic feet of capacity, so it can handle drying a very large load. To be sure, the owner's manual does warn not to fill the drum to capacity or you'll reduce drying efficiency. \nThere's only one large SMART dial on this dryer, which is for selecting the different drying cycles, and it also shows the WiFi icons and a few others. To turn the dryer on, to start it, to select from the Settings menu, to use wrinkle care, and to change preset drying temperature and time, all that requires is a light fingertip touch. \nEvery time you turn on the dryer, a message appears on the dial to clean the lint filter. This is important to increase drying efficiency, and lint left behind in the dryer can over time become a fire hazard. \nThe dryer comes pre-set with 12 different drying cycles, from AI dry (I like this one, it chooses drying temperature and time based upon the fabric it detects in the dryer), to anti-bacterial. Using the Settings menu, you have 7 additional options, from low static to damp signal. The cycle edit in the Settings menu allows you to add an additional 12 different drying cycles, so there's 24 in all! With any of the drying cycles you choose, you have the option to change the pre-set temperature and drying time. \nAdditionally, there's the wrinkle care option. If you turn this on, after the regular drying cycle, the dryer will tumble every few minutes, for up to to 3 hours, to help prevent wrinkles from setting in the clothes. \nTo be able to use the Steam Fresh cycle and the Low Static option, your dryer will need to be connected to your cold water inlet faucet via an additional hose. \nMy dryer came installed with the dryer door opening forward (instead of opening to the left or right). It only opens about half-way this way, but so far this had not been a problem loading clothes. It is possible to reinstall the door into a left- or right swinging door, which is described in great detail in the owner's manual. \nI'm excited to have this dryer and I hope, with good care and maintenance, it will serve me for many years.

Great looking dryer with a ton of features. Just about every cycle I tried worked great, but out of the 8 selections, not counting the adjustments you can make to customized some of the cycles, the two that I use most are AI Dry and Quick Dry. I didn't really read up on what the AI was doing, but I found it provided the best combination of results (aka the load was dry) and the run time. Quick Dry did a better job on small loads than AI. If you're looking to optimize for economy, the Normal setting with Energy Saver enable is probably your best option, but you'll need to wait an extra 30 minutes to complete the cycle. There is an option to download a custom setting from the web, but I haven't tried it. You can already customize the internal presets, so I'm not sure what more a downloaded setting could do. Looks like you can only store one downloaded setting at a time. Similarly, I haven't connected the dryer to WiFi yet, but I may give that a try. If you connect the dryer to WiFi you can access it with LG's ThinQ app. The app will access all your WiFi enabled LG appliances. The dryer was straightforward to install. You do need an adaptor to connect the gas line to the dryer, but it was included with the installation kit purchased separately. For the exhaust, you'll most likely need a 90 degree elbow at the outlet from the dryer and then a semi-rigid or rigid exhaust vent. You'll also want to level the dryer using the leveling feet already installed from the factory. After you install the dryer, follow the instructions to activate it. It will run through some tests to make sure it was installed correctly. What else? The filter is accessed from inside the door. Sounds simple enough, but it's nice not to have the filter accessed through the top because dust does show up more on the black matte finish, which is gorgeous by the way. The drum is large and lighted. The door is reversible so you can position the dryer to the left or right of your washer. The door also can open downward, but only part way. It's convenient for adding an article to a load, but you can't use it to load or unload the dryer. The only negative comment I can make is that there's a slight slope to the top of the dryer, so it doesn't make the best folding table. But that's really a minor issue.

This LG gas dryer replaced my 20-year-old Maytag dryer. As the HD installers moved out the old and in with the new, they noted that the LG was much lighter than the 20 year old unit. I suspect thinner gauge metal and more plastic parts in the LG. Hopefully I get another 20 years out of this machine. \r\nThis LG model (DLG7151W) is sort of the middle of the LG line, both features and price ($800 at time of review). It’s missing features like steam, stainless drum, and interior light. And only has 3 temperatures and dry sensing levels. But frankly, the only feature I miss is the interior light. I end up not using those other features anyway. So this dryer is a good fit for me. I really like the glass front door. Often with my old machine large items would ball up and not get dry. At least now I can see what is going on inside and make adjustments. I also like that this LG will continue to occasionally tumble clothes once the cycle is finished, to reduce wrinkles. As far as operation this LG works pretty well. I found the sensor dry system has some difficulty if you mix cotton and polyester items. It would stop, thinking everything was dry but some items were still damp. Works fine if you don’t mix. The LG has a “Energy Saver” feature but I found it significantly adds to the dry time (almost double). In fact, I found the LG takes slightly longer (about 10 minutes) to dry clothes than my old Maytag. I suspect the “medium” temp setting is a bit lower than my old machine. \r\n One thing that has not changed in 20 years is the drum construction. I don’t like that the drum vanes have gaps in the sheet metal (see photo). All it takes is for someone to leave a dime in their pocket and for it to find it’s way through the gap. You can never get it out and it makes a racket as the change tumbles about inside the metal vane. You think they would fix that design. Overall, this dryer does pretty well at its main task of drying clothes. And it seems fairly priced. I would say it is a slightly better than average value. So I give it a ”C+” grade. Time will tell if it runs for the long haul.

This LG dryer is smart. It can link via wi-fi to the matching LG washer so it knows what is coming to set the dry cycle, it can be remotely started, it tells you how many cycles its had, how clean is the vent, and how much energy each cycle used. The dryer is large at 7.3 cu ft, has a easy load two-way door, is vented, and in alpine white. I have the gas version but its also available in electric, The LG smart appliance line links using their ThinQ app. The app offers control and information on their new line of smart appliances including washers, refrigerators, stoves, microwaves. Download the app, set up an account, and link the devices with a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. This dryer has many features including a range of selectable dry settings and an AI setting – yes – artificial intelligence – to determine how to best dry the clothes. It runs more quietly than the older unit it replaced – and it dries faster – using its smart sensors to get the job done in what seems like 25-40 percent less time than my old dryer. You can select heat seating, it has a remote start feature, and it tells you if it has a problem with the vent or other operations. You can get alerts sent to your mobile device. The one item I don’t like so well is the lint trap – it takes some time to clean as it’s in multiple sections – not too much time, just not as quick as the old one where I just wiped it clean. Then again, it seems more efficient at catching lint – so it’s a tradeoff. The dryer has a fully digital control panel – but you need to know where the power button is because it’s not clearly defined when its off. The door is great – as it offers the versatility of either side or top opening. The door side opening can be reversed – but it’s a multiple step process due to the dual opening ability of the door. The dryer also looks great! Black tinted see through door – a nice light blue light that illuminates when the door is open or when the cycle stops, and a black top control panel. It just looks sleek! Overall, I’m very happy with this dryer, it’s a real upgrade to my 10-year-old unit. The dryer is backed by a one-year warranty.

Among the more interesting features for this dryer is it is very convertible, there are provisions to relocate the vent to the side, and the door is reversible. The settings are pretty versatile allowing for a wide variety of laundry types, it even has a setting for bedding. I tried the app but found it to be very difficult to connect to the dryer. Every time it was unable to connect I had to type in my WIFI password again (it is very long and hard to type on my phone). The app is not required to use the dryer though. I definitely like it's ability to detect moisture levels and turn itself off early if the items being dried are done before the preset timer runs out. Overall I definitely recommend this model in gas, there is also an electric version available.

Love thia dryer. Its very sleek and modern looking. First off, the top is slanted, which you may love or hate. I love it because my wife can't unload her junk on it from the car but others may not like it for that same reason. The controls are very easy to navigate. I love love love the door that can go left, right plus straight out for easy loading, which is perfect for my use since i cant change my washing machine door to swing the opposite way. The only reason this machine didnt get 5 stars is because the description says it has a steam option online, however, this model does not. The next model up does. If i could choose, id pay for the upper model because that feature is really nice as i had it on my last unit. Overall its a great dryer though.

We bought this dryer 22 days ago, after our old dryer of many, many years finally pooped out. We wanted a replacement quickly at a good price, so we weren't picky about color or brand. This one was half price and appeared well-made. The door could be opened from the top for easy loading; it could be swung out sideways for easy unloading into a basket. Either way, the door sounded heavy and sturdy, like an expensive car door. We don't use all the fancy settings like internet connection to your phone. We turn off the Energy Saver option to make sure the load dries completely. So far we're very satisfied with our purchase.

The pros of this dryer are the lint trap and that the shape collects more lint than my old dryer. I also like the look of the glass door it seems stylish. The cons of this dryer are that the top is slanted so it's harder to store things on top. I also had a tough time with the settings and had to find one that worked for my drying style. What I mean is that the first few cycles, not all my clothes were dry. I ended up going with the "timed" dry setting. I think this has to do with the dryer also cooling the clothes at the end of the cycle.

So far, I really like this dryer. It has a giant capacity and lots of options for dryer cycles. Best part is I don't have to go to the laundromat to clean my comforter and blanket any more. Delivery was as promised and on time. Home Depot couldn't install it for me because I needed the dryer converted to LP and they don't do that. The LP orifice was readily available online and easily installed by a friend who is a long time appliance repairman. I have the matching washer and so far, it's great, too. Both use the LG ThinQ app and it's pretty cool, the washer recommends the drying cycle to the dryer. The app also tells me when the cycles are done and I can look at the app to know how much time is left on the cycle. There are cycles available on the app that aren't on the dryer that you can send via your smartphone. The lint catch is huge and it's right in the front of the tub so easily cleaned. It has a light inside the drum which is really nice. The door can be reversed to open from the left or the right, mine was attached to the right side when it came. A couple of things we had to get used to, the top of the washer and dryer are sloped so no more folding clothes or putting things on top of the washer and dryer. The installer told me they do that to keep people from putting things on top of the appliances and possibly denting them which can affect the dryer working properly. The washer has a lock once the cycle starts so you can't rinse out the laundry detergent cup, but my installer told me it's best to use the pods and put them in directly with your clothes. He said they clean much better and are designed for this type of machine. So far, so good and LG appliances seem to hold up much better than other brands. I definitely recommend both the washer and the dryer, I'm very happy with them.

Only had it a few weeks. It's a basic dryer that seems to do that one thing well. For reference, we had a Maytag that ran for 20+ yrs. and then we had a big fancy GE with all the bells that was amazing for a couple yrs then always had something to repair. So now we are back to the basics. This machine had good long term reviews for reliability, but I have heard support is hard if you do have issues. Hopefully I don't. So far I love it so I am being critical of small things I would just make bet...

This front load smart dryer does what it needs to do; dry laundry. It does it well like any other dryer. The biggest perk of the dryer is its smart capability with LG’s ThinQ app. \n\nBefore talking about the app, in terms of aesthetics if you like the simple panda look of all white and spots of black – this will be for you. I like the tinted black control panel and glass door. It leads to a modern design. One drawback of the machine is the downward slope from the control panel to the front of the machine. I’ve noticed if I leave clothing on top of the dryer and start the machine, the clothes would fall down to the ground much easier than a dryer that has a flat top.\n\nThe control panel on this machine is a touch panel. There is a lack of any mechanical buttons except for the middle dial. The touch panel relies on “touch and hold” and can be finicky if you are trying to press the buttons too quickly. \n\nThe standout feature of this machine is how the door opens. You can open it down or right to left. If you prefer left to right, you can also do so with by reversing the hinges which is a feature on this machine.\n\nMost of the value of this machine comes from the smart app, ThinQ. You will be able to send a multitude of dryer setting for blankets, towels, et cetera to the machine to use. You will also be able to get notifications of when the machine is done with a load from a notification on your phone and view the status of your drying cycle on your phone. The app does let you remote start your machine as well. This is a very novel feature. The only caveat is that you need to hold down the remote start button on the machine to enable it every time you decide to use it.\n\nOverall – this machine does the basic well and provides you the ability to control using your phone!

My very first thought about the dryer was, "wow, this dryer looks amazing!" It's obviously a dark color, but it's not all black and has some nice color combo between the blacks and dark grey. The one pictures shows the finish on the top of the dryer and the reflection has flakes just like a car! I went on the check more of the dryer and the next thing I did was opened the door. Compared to my current dryer, the door is so easy to open, and I like that. I powered on the dryer and was greeted with a pleasant chime. It's a small thing, but the cute sounds make it more "enjoyable" to use compared to the loud, abrupt beeps of my 10 yr old dryer. The best part of this dryer is the smart connectivity. Since I already have an LG TV, I was able to easily add the dryer to the app. If you don't have the app, you'll need to download the app and create an account. Once configured, I was able to control the dryer from the app! The one downside is I have to press a button on the dryer for 3 seconds each time I want to use the remote option. I'm not sure the reason for that. I was expecting to get notified when a cycle was done through the app, but it wasn't happening. I was able to set up a routine in the app to notify me when the dryer is drying, but I could not get a notification to work when the dryer is done with the cycle. There's also a bunch of different drying options and some with "AI" assistance, but I didn't get into them because I just the dryer to dry. Here are the things I don't like about the dryer: 1. Piano black surface where the knob and buttons are will scratch easily. 2. The lint trap is cumbersome. I have to fold open to remove the lint and then close it back up which is an extra step. Overall, this is a very nice dryer and I would recommend it.

The door can open side to side or from the top which is helpful when washing bid bulky items vs normal loads. Many options to choose from & shows time during each cycle. The one thing I'm not wild about is the top of the dryer is slanted, so stuff you put on top slides off.

So just putting this review to counter an earlier one I did where I crapped on this dryer. So after months of struggling with our dryer, we had our roof vent replaced with a DryerJack vent by In-O-Vate and our dryer is working like a dream. So far it's drying at full capacity and temparature is holding good. Noise levels are where they should be. Overall it's a good dryer now that the venting is completely clear and got the right parts.

I have owned this Dryer for about one month and really like the looks. The door opening two ways is very convenient. It may be more complicated than we needed, but we got it at a good price. My only concern is I wish I knew how hot all the various temperatures actually are. Many of the preset program settings go to Med High. My wife is concerned about shrinking her clothes.

Good value dryer. Clothes dry quickly. Simple controls. Wish I knew the front to back dimensions. My old model had a flat back & the newer ones have a bulged back( bigger drum). It doesnt sit close to the back wall esp accommodating also the vent hose.

I am very impressed with the technology in this new LG dryer. So far, I have used the “AI Dry”, “Delicates”, and “Bedding” modes, but for most large loads of mixed laundry I just use the “AI Dry” mode which only takes about 45 minutes. It is much quieter than our old dryer and I also really like having a light inside. The easy-load door is nice for loading and you can still swing the door open for unloading.\n\nYou can download the ThinQ app to download specialized cycles (sanitize is one option), link your other compatible LG appliances, and use your phone as a remote control and to monitor the cycle status. I used the ThinQ app for a while but I didn’t find it that useful, but it’s good to know the option exists. We have decided to buy the matching LG washer, so maybe I’ll use the app more once the two machines are linked.\n\nWhile I love the new dryer overall, I do have three gripes, but none of them are big enough to leave less than a 5 star review: 1) in the “AI Dry” mode you CANNOT change the default temperature or dryness settings; 2) the lint trap is oddly designed, and while it catches a lot more lint, it’s difficult to clean; 3) the top is slightly sloped, so you cannot store anything on top of the dryer because it will slide off. But overall, I’m really pleased with it, and we’ve decided to buy the matching LG washer.\n\nLastly, I have one IMPORTANT TIP: the mechanism of the easy-load door makes reversing the swing of the door (left or right) much more complicated – ask your installer to do this for you!

Had a chance to use this dryer several times. So far so good. I like the large lint screen. Not a fan of the default energy saver button as using it requires additional drying time. Would be nice to have the option to so it is not a default.

SO far works well, there is a design flaw, it has a slanted top, who puts a slanted top on a dryer. The clothes basket wont stay on it, clothes that are folded slide off. This is crazy, has the designer ever done laundry ?

Bought this product about a month ago and am generally happy with it. It doesn't dry as much as I thought it would om the normal cycle - have to run an additional 20 - 30 minutes on manual setting for complete dryness.
