Bought this earlier this month and had a chance to use it a few times. Reading reviews here, I can respond to two common one.\n1. Too fast, even on slowest speed. I did notice that too, but I also found out that while it's moving forward, if you pull the speed level all the way back, into reverse, it WON'T be reversing but will go much slower instead, so that's that. Doing this, it had no problem shewing into packed snow banks and shooting it far away.\n\n2. Having no neutral, if the batteries die, you'll have a hard time pushing it back to your house. I guess those saying that didn't notice that EACH wheel have a lock pin. Take the pin off the wheel and put it in free spinning slot instead. There, now the wheels will spin freely and the blower will be much easier to push (see picture).\n\n3. The lid doesn't stay open which hinders putting batteries in. I've routed the chute's cables so that when I open the cover, they keep the cover opened (see picture)\nI do find there is design flaws, like the reverse is way too slow. I end up not using it and pulling the blower instead or turning it around and using the top speed to goo back to my starting position, which I find annoying.\n\nI wished the chute would tilt over 180 degrees so I could blow the snow on my yard instead of on the cars by the road when I'm reaching the end of my driveway.\n\nThe chute doesn't tilt down enough but by slowing down the auger, I can make sure I'm not throwing snow too far.\n\nFor its run time, with four batteries, I'm able to do my 20'x20' driveway, the 20' long snowbank, 6' wide on the road in front of my house (30' long) and 4' by 180' of the walkway by the side of my driveway. After all that, with 15 cm of snow, I still had over 25% of battery left, so I'm happy with that.\n\nI can't comment on the auger not spinning, as it has not happened to me. Could be because the blower is in a heated garage and the snow on it (that I haven't brushed away) melts between use.\n\nI do take the battery out as it does seem to be draining battery when not in used. Looking at the schematic, it does look that logic board is always powered.\n\nAll in all, I'm happy with my buy and the annoying quirks is where it lost a star.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this snowblower one day before the spring Blizzard of 2024 in Colorado. Here's the good: It handled 2-3 feet (seriously) of heavy wet snow with no problem. The throwing distance was impressive - I had to be careful not to hit my neighbor's house! I ran it 3 different times and each run time was at least 40 minutes and the batteries never discharged completely-very impressive!! The fact that the wheel speed and the auger speed are adjustable independently is very impressive. However, the slowest forward speed is too fast for blowing deep heavy snow. It is powerful enough to push through, but it just pushes the snow to the side because the auger and impeller can't keep up. This wouldn't be a problem in lighter or shallower snow. Now the bad part: It was a pain to assemble by myself because the chute assembly was hard to hold in place while trying to start the screws that hold it on. Other than that, it was pretty straight forward, this blower is also very heavy. Two strong people might be able to lift it but I'm not talking about the average husband and wife :). It came on a pallet and I had it loaded into my pickup at the store. I actually assembled it in the bed of the truck and used loading ramps to roll it to the ground. The heavy weight and lack of a differential in the drive mechanism makes it difficult to turn the machine around. Finally, at the very end of 3 sessions of moving heavy snow, the controls that change the chute discharge direction stopped working. upon inspection, the nut on the bottom of the steering gear had fallen off at some point. I bought a replacement nut and adjusted everything to where it works perfectly. Despite the few difficulties I'm really happy with this machine!! It works just as well as my Ahrens 30", 16.5 HP gas snow snowblower that is a beast!

As a big fan of the Ryobi 40V line, I was excited to add the 22-inch 2-stage snow blower to my collection. I've always been impressed with Ryobi products and had high hopes for this machine.\n\nUnfortunately, my excitement turned to major frustration upon delivery. The box arrived absolutely destroyed—it was soaking wet, torn open in multiple places, and had clearly been left out in the pouring rain as the box was soaking wet.\n\nThis poor handling resulted in a damaged product. The cross-member where the handlebars mount was bent significantly. This wasn't just a cosmetic scuff; the bend was so bad that the screw holes were pushed too close to the battery housing, making it impossible to properly install the handlebars. I actually had to use a sledgehammer (with a rubber block to prevent more damage) to bend the metal back into place just to get the screws in. I also noticed several other scuffs and damage to the plastic housing.\n\nAfter my own repairs, I was able to get it fully assembled and powered the unit on, so I know it works. I haven't had a chance to use it on snow yet, but I'm still hopeful it will perform well.\n\nHowever, for a $970 piece of equipment, this is completely unacceptable. A customer should not have to take a sledgehammer to a brand-new product just to be able to assemble it. I expect a product of this value to be packaged securely and handled with care. I love Ryobi, but this out-of-the-box experience was terrible.

I can't give a 5 star review and I can't recommend purchasing this product. \n\nI could talk about how the batteries have a relatively short charge but that seems to be common knowledge.\n\nI want to start by saying that the quality and ease of use should make this a 5 star review. The problem is a design failure. The chute positioning handle has a design flaw. Because you spin the handle on a horizontal axis, the vibration of the auger and the bumps of the plowing surface causes vibrations that will spin the handle down, which moves the direction the chute is facing. This is a huge problem when snow blowing. I have seen another snow blower from another company that has a handle, not a spinning lever, positioned on the top of the control area, which seems to prevent this issue.\n\nI'm sad to say that I now regret spending my money on this product when it has such a flawed feature.

I have used this snow blower several time now and it’s quite impressive. Other people have stated the speed is too high even on low but I find it about perfect. I purchased the 4 battery and blower combo. My only complaint is the runtime. I got 4 (6ah) batteries but Ryobi should sell this 4 (8ah) batteries instead. While it does get the job done well the runtime is less than 1/2 hour. I knew this when I purchased it and was willing to trade the runtime for the convenience of not dealing with carbs, gas, oil, etc. I wish Ryobi sold this as an optional 8ah combo as I’d be willing to buy that over the 6ah combo. Overall very happy with this unit and as long as it lasts several years I’d recommend this to anybody. It seems well built and very powerful. I will say in addition that this thing is a heavy beast. It’s huge and heavy and angry so be careful if you have limited space for storing it.

I'm decently pleased so far with this snowblower. I have a fairly long driveway at 275ft long; 225ft is 11ft wide and about 50 feet is 32 feet wide, so I was nervous about how long the batteries would last/if I would be able to finish the entire driveway with one charge using the four 6ah batteries it came with. So far we've only gotten two storms, each about 3/4 inches, so not a lot of snow, but I did my entire driveway with one charge (one light left on each battery pair). I had the auger and speed on the lowest settings which likely helped.\r\n\r\nI am nervous about how long this will last with bigger snowfalls. I wish the batteries that it came with were larger capacity to avoid having to purchase additional ones to avoid taking charging breaks since additional batteries are pretty pricey.\r\n\r\nOverall I'm happy with my purchase. It's working quite well so far.

I was able to use this blower and give it a good test drive on a classic New England nor’easter storm in about 12 inches with snow drifts up to 2 to 3 feet. The machine worked just as good as any large two-stage gasoline powered blower with no headaches from a gasoline engine. Well designed well-built with multiple features in mind like LED lighting handwarmers etc. I would highly recommend it for homeowners with moderate to small driveways. If you have a large driveway be prepared to own more batteries and have them ready to roll when the ones in the machine dienafter about 40 minutes. I used it in a commercial setting with ease! Easy assembly with all required tools included! The discharge shoot bracket is a little flimsy but does the job. It was easy to operate, able to store inside without worrying about gasoline!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First major snowfall of 11” using electric blower. Old blower was a Craftsman 2-stage bought in 2004. It is a tank to turn. This one was effortless to use. My driveway is about 10 car spaces but has a very wide 3 car space that I can only blow one direction. It shoots well over my yard, fence and to neighbor. Had to adjust the pitch - super easy. Disappointing battery life of only 30 minutes. Had to stop half way and charge batteries again which takes an hour each! Ended up shoveling the rest. Not sure about the claim of 20 spaces-maybe I need a better, more efficient pattern. Either way, hoping this lasts at least half the lifespan of the Craftsman- which still works, just too heavy to turn.

Had the opportunity to test it on 16" of snow (Nova Scotia), and did it perform, quite well!\nI have a long driveway, around 300' long, and the 2 batteries were good for like 75% of it. I find that impressive for how much snow we got that day. On a lighter snowfall, it should be good to do the whole driveway. The batteries will get hot, and won't charge until they cool down. Something to keep in mind. I have 2 more 6aH batteries from other tools that work just fine with it, the just don't last as long. I just wish I had gone with the more expensive model, as it ships with 4 batteries, instead of 2. If I were to buy 2 extra 8aH batteries, this model ends up being more expensive than the higher end one, and this is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars

I bought this in February 2022, it did well the first season and only had a shear bolt go in 2023, I didn't need to use it in 2024, and only did a few cycling since 2023 to make sure it was running. Today it would not throw snow, it will move forward but the auger won't engage. There is either an issue with the motor, cables or maybe a contact. For the amount of use, I would say this is not a good buy, maybe Ryobi has addressed the quality in more recent production years. I have ab lot of Ryobi tools, some or fantastic some are lemons, this might be in the lemon group. Not sure I will replace it or go with a different brand. For now I will dig by hand and stay fit.

If you are looking for a snow blower thats ready to go right out of the box, dont buy this one. Easy to assemble. however there were some issues with the product. The chute deflector cord was routed and twisted around the chute rotation cord. Had to disassemble and re route so it could seat properly on the bracket. One of the cables had the outer casing torn. The chute only turned about 160 degrees and was very loose. Had to adjust the tension to get 180, but the plastic gear has a lot of backlash turning clockwise. \nOnly did a small amount of snow, but it worked very well. My first electric blower and I hope it last and does a good job, but not a good start.

The assembly instructions are poor. Mine required loosening and lengthening the cables that operate the chute - and this required removing the left rear wheel. This was obviously not covered in the manual. Otherwise, it works well. It doesn't include tips how to improve runtime: i.e., reducing augur speed. Also, when the batteries are down to one light, it is very unpredictable when power goes out. And when it does, it happens suddenly at the far end of your driveway and you'll need to walk back to your garage to retrieve the other 2 batteries. Other than that it's a great machine. Obviously, the snow quality (wet or fluffy) affects its performance. I'd buy it again!

I was in the fence about buying a battery powered SB. Will it be able to handle heavy snow? Packed snow? The crap the plows put at the end of your driveway? \r\n\r\nWell all those qualms were put to bed, when I went ahead and pulled the trigger. We got 13"+ over the last 4 days and I've completely cleared my driveway and even went along the curb to clear parking/garbage spots. This thing is a hog. Chewed right threw the thick stuff. When all was said n done I still had just under 1/2 battery left!

After a pretty mild winter, I finally had a chance to use my blower today. Worked as advertised, and shortened what would've been a 2+ hour job down to about 30 minutes. I kept my rating at 4 stars for the following reasons:\r\n\r\n- The self-propelled tires don't have good traction, and will simply spin when encountering thick, wet snow. Easily overcome with some push, but not quite what I was expecting.\r\n\r\n- Still leaves a bit of ice/slush behind, that you have clear with a shovel.

I haven’t had the need to use this yet so can’t comment on its performance. The reason I am commenting is to help others who may have trouble connecting the chute assembly to the mainframe. If the cables are too tight to allow you to put the chute assembly in place, remove the left wheel and reposition the cables to provide more length. That will allow you to get the assembly on.

Everything is good. I just need to reroute the cable myself since the battery lid could not fully open. The cable setting was in the way of battery lid opening. Also, in order to fix this issue, required to pull more cable and limited the control panel to adjust further higher. Attached a photo with 2 white zip tie to the cables.

This thing is a beast. See my video. I think the snow goes 3 stories up. It lost 1 star because you have to hit a start button every time you want the blades to spin. No gas. No more winters where the snow blower won’t start. Those days are over.

It isn’t perfect, but it exceeded my expectations, so I’ve ranked it as 5 stars. \r\nThere are some flaws; the biggest flaw is it doesn’t start when it’s cold - it just clicks. So I set up my heater beside it for an hour before I use it, if it’s -25 or more. Second flaw is not having a “neutral” drive gear - it’s nearly impossible to push without (or with dead) batteries.\r\n\r\nOverall everything else is tolerable for the value. More expensive than a gas unit, but I always have trouble with gas engines and pull starting, so I find this very reliable.\r\n\r\nIt actually runs really well for me in Manitoba, where we got record breaking snow this winter. With 4x6mah batteries and 2x5mah and 2x4mah — and 12”+++ of snow it ran for an hour. Overall, I’m really happy with it. — I have other 40v tools (blower, mower, hedge trimmer and pole headge trimmer, and weed trimmer) so I’m very happy with this tool for the batteries it came with (and free blower promo). \r\n\r\nThere are certainly cons to the unit — most reviewers with the problem that it won’t start in the cold, I hope they get it sorted out by temporarily heating the unit!\r\n\r\nPhoto of large snowfall today. It has the runtime to clear my driveway of 9” of snow on a single charge and power to cut through where the village plowed me in clearing the street. I recommend this product to friends and strangers. \r\n\r\nThere are some things to be aware of when you do purchase this snow blower… The chute deflector installation instructions mention nuts that were not included or listed in the packing list, I purchased 2 metric M8 flange nuts 1.25 pitch from a local hardware store. It comes with 4 extra shear bolts w/nuts, I lost a nut during use and I replaced it with metric M6 1.0 pitch stop nut. While using, I noticed the skid shoes were loose and I lost a bolt there as well; I replaced 4 bolts, nuts and washers with 5/16x1” carriage bolts, 5/16” hex nut, and 5/16 flat washer because my local hardware store did not have metric bolts to match. \r\n\r\nMy repairs were done after I cleared my driveway, and could have been prevented by tightening before use… It’s in the instructions.

I am writing this review after my 1st use: (23 deg.F | 6”+ fluffy snow) I think I’m in LOVE… I own many Ryobi tools, mower, power washer, weed whacker, leaf Blower (which all use the same style of battery)….. so purchasing the snowblower was a no-brainer. I have a medium driveway (~60’ x 15’) and large concrete back patio (~60’x24’)…. Each of these areas took an about full charge of battery in this deep snow. The blower definitely does not lack for power, throwing the snow with ease, and the self-propelled mechanism is very helpful when going up an incline (if I add the tire chains, I think it will have even more traction). This is my first snowblower, and I find it very easy to maneuver & operate (I’m a female); I was not interested in dealing with mixing gas so a battery powered snowblower is perfect for me. \nAt this moment, I would absolutely recommend this Ryobi snowblower and I look forward to the next time it snows so I can get out and use it again! \n\nI LOVE RYOBI products- their warranty & quality is top notch!

I just switched from a two stage gas snow blower to this. I highly recommend that you make the switch. I used it in 6in of wet snow on a long driveway. At first I had it at half speed and half auger speed to save battery life. But with 6 inches it was going slower than I wanted so I went full speed and auger speed. I finished the entire drive way with half the battery life left. It did not get bogged down at all, even with the snowplow snow at the bottom of the drive way.\nI no longer have to worry about carburetors, gas, oil, or starting it for the first time in winter. Just put the batteries in and push the button. \nIt was very easy to assemble! I had it delivered with free delivery. It came on a pallet, dropped in my drive way. Easley put together then rolled off the pallet.\nI have two extra rapid chargers from other tools, so it would be easy to charge all 4 batteries, but they were not needed as I had more than enough battery life for my extended drive way. Oh, and is much quieter than gas.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Assembly is not as clear as it should be. Easy enough to figure out. Had the same problem mentioned by many other people that it was missing the 2 nuts for the bottom of the support pole. Luckily I had made a note of the size that was needed and was able to get them easily (it would be nice if Ryobi could figure out how to get it right). The design with the stud and nut seems to be a better setup than the original instructions with 4 bolts. It seems like the stud will hold better. That being said, getting in to put the nut on the left side was almost impossible. I could not get my fingers in past the tire to start the nut. I had to get my wife to start it, then I could tighten it with the wrench. Again no big deal but it was certainly quite frustrating. Took a considerable extra amount of time than it could have.\nOnce assembled I had to wait for some snow. (which was fine with me, would like to have waited even longer.) Finally got some and it worked very well. Handled close to a foot very well. Learning to balance the speeds of the drive and the auger to get the best life from the batteries. The fuel gauges on the second day while finishing cleaning up the snow stayed at 4 lights until they stopped working. I had started back to the garage thinking the gauges might not be functioning properly. Got 30-40 minutes so not bad run time. Could be better and hopefully will get a bit better as I figure out the balancing of the speeds.\nNot very impressed with the chute deflector and the controls. Does not hold in place nearly as well as other snowblowers I have had. Hopefully I will figure out some adjustments to improve the holding in place as I go along.\nI will probably look at getting at least another pair of batteries to get more runtime and to be able to get the snowblower back to the garage because it is a real pain to move when the batteries run out.

The power of this thing is beyond belief and it has no problem munching the snow/ice at the end of the driveway that the snow plow happily delivers to sad residents as he passes by. I bought the electric snow shovel 2 years ago and was highly impressed so after much internal debate over the cost of this 2 stage snow blower I finally broke down and spent 1800 and happy I did. If I had one complaint it would be runtime but I knew that was a weak point from watching and reading others reviews. I get about 1/2 hour runtime which for now is plenty but as my batteries degrade I may need to invest in a few more. Overall I’m very happy and would purchase this again.

We just had 18" powder fall. 2 full set charges did 20x60' +paths & plow bank.\r\nGood: battery / power (throws powder 30+')\r\nBad: The lights failed 1x. The chute is poorly designed. It doesn't rotate 90º left, but you can get it there manually. But.. it won't stay.. in any position. \r\nUgly: The auger refused to spin on 2nd use. It only clicked. I eventually got it working. Drive wheels stopped working once too. \r\nWhen it's 5º and snowing, reliability is pass/fail. Unfortunately, this failed.

4 feet of snow. It was between zero and 20°, so I want to snow blow my driveway the wheels with engage and go with the auger would not a Got above 20° two days later. Auger started working. I tried it again on a day I was 20° and then 10 at night and the auger would not work unless I heated the machine up so therefore I plowed with my four wheeler I have four batteries for the machine plus an extra one just in case but it takes two of them to run the machine so each one lasts about 15-20 minutes

We live in Southern Maine and this score blower works extremely well for us. We have a short but wide driveway (35’x25’), plus sidewalks, and for up to 6” of snow I usually have one bar of battery life left after one pass. We live on a corner so the plow wash is significant, and this blower has no problem with heavy wash. \r\n\r\nFor more snow, or for very wet snow, I take passes and either recharge while I wait or use other batteries that I have to help out. Storing/charging inside seems to help.

Really how the snow blowing performed. I’ve had this for 60 days used it 3 times. For the 60 days I’ve been emailing Ryobi service because it came without all of the screws for the skids. Not a huge deal until today, hand warmer wouldn’t turn off so I left it for a few minutes outside, came back to the handles completely melted smelling like burnt plastic. Thank goodness I wasn’t holding it at the time. Would have created major injuries. Going back.
