As a fan of Sauder products for more than two decades now, I have to say I was extremely disappointed in this specific bookshelf. I bought two to go with the L-shaped desk I purchased, but I would never buy another one, and I would never recommend this bookshelf to anyone else. From directions that seemed outdated or inaccurate, to designs that seemed flimsy and questionable, to parts that are cheap and ugly, the unit was disappointing from beginning to end. In the end, as long as you dont look too closely, its a gorgeous piece. But for almost $300, this should have been better designed and better looking. In the directions, there were references to the unfinished surface of a part when both sides were finished and another part (O) was shown with a long indentation going lengthwise (similar to part M) when it actually had three predrilled holes instead. There were a couple other misleading items that I dont recall now, but this is the first time I can remember Sauder instructions being misleading or confusing. The four half disks on the top and bottom of the vertical molding look like they have a wood grain in the pictures on your site. In reality, they are mono-colored plastic disks that look like mono-colored disks. And the door stops are cheap plastic too. Once finished, the valance is barely held in place by a twist-lock fastener on either side. Why its also not attached to the top is beyond me. The adjustable cabinet doors cannot be adjusted in a way that prevents the bottoms from dragging, and theres a 3/8 gap between the closed doors that doesnt exist in the photos. And even the lower of the two open shelves has to be put into place before putting the metal pins in because of where the angle brackets are located. All in all, poor instructions, poor materials and poor design, something I never thought I would say about something I bought from Sauder.

Good looking book case , looks exactly as in picture . Assembly instructions were good and I was able to follow them without messing it up . I have plenty of experience assembling ikea stuff so that experience might differ for others but I think manufacturers did a good job in labeling and packing things appropriately. Shipment was also packed with proper packaging both inside and outside the box . FedEx left it on road since it was heavy, which is expected out of fedex . Only bad is the cheap particle board which this thing is made of . But then you get what you pay . Overall decent purchase and no complains . Good job

Overall, this is a very pretty piece considering it's veneer. Some parts were labeled well with a sticker, other parts I didn't think were labeled at all, until I saw labels inked into the wood on the sides. then there were some parts without labels at all. I had to figure those out myself. I wish the labelling had been consistent, with visible labels stuck on the wood and not inked in. Instructions were clear except on how to adjust the doors. Those were a challenge to get just right in terms of the correct distance to each other when the doors are closed. I had no missing parts. I changed out the knobs for brass.

I had previously purchased pieces of this set for a spare bedroom and loved the look. So when my son in college transferred to a new school closer to home and moved back in we went back to this set for his room. The set is strong, sturdy, and has the look of more expensive factory assembled furniture. Assembly is easy with a minimum number of tools and the instructions are easy to follow. Yes, ladies, some of us guys do read the instructions! :-) Out of seven pieces of furniture purchased I had a screw missing so I contacted Sauder. The customer service person I spoke with could not have been nicer and was in the USA! I got my missing screw a long with a touch up pen for the asking. We need more space for storing our books, and this really helps out a lot. The library with doors arrived in great shape-well packed with excellent instructions. There were no problems putting the bookcase together. The only thing that disappointed us was that the color did not match up at all to the picture on the website. It was quite a bit darker than we expected. Would have liked a lighter finish.

Bought a set of the book cases to place side by side in our home office. They look great but there was some damage (including a dent) from shipping issues. It took about 3.5 hours to put together both book cases. My husband and I did it together but it could be done alone. MOST of the pieces are labeled but several were not so that sort of slows down the assembly process.

Extremely pleased! ? I purchased 2 units to create a fireplace surround. I received them quickly and without damage or missing parts (Yay!). It took me almost 4 hrs to build each unit but the build went smoothly. All holes were aligned exact making it a smooth process. I had another set of bookcases I was originally going to purchase due to less cost; however they were very plain. These Sauder bookcases went on sale so I was delighted that I could upgrade to a classy look at a buy one get one price. Thank you Home Depot!! I’m trying to find a place to add some more! Great bookcase, very sturdy and easy to put together. But remember, it's BIG, so make sure you have a decent amount of space available to put it together. I assembled it on top of a bed before standing it up, which worked out well for me. Note that the doors make this unsuitable for placement right up against the corner of a room (unless you place it diagonally) so think through your room placement. If you want a simpler bookcase (no doors) in the Select Cherry finish, the Sauder Select collection has those. Their style isn't exactly the same as the Palladia collection. . . they're simpler. . . but at least the colors match.

Good quality and fairly easy to put together. I picked this since it seemed to match my entertainment unit since it's espresso. It ended up matching really well. \n\nAs long as you following the instructions step by step, you won't have any problems. They are very easy to follow. I would suggest to label all the pieces with the letter label using post it's. Some are clearly labeled, some are not. It just makes things easier when you need to grab the next piece. \n\nOne of the shelves had a crack in it but ordering the replacement shelf through Sauder was so easy, and I got it very quickly.\n\nI'm overall very satisfied!

I bought this because it matches a desk that I bought second-hand. Although it was a little confusing to put together, in the end it is a nice-looking unit. A couple of the pieces were not labelled which extended the time it took to put this together. I really like it as it is 'rich' looking and functions well.

Great shelves but only a few of the pieces were actually labeled so it took some time to figure out which piece went where. Also, for attaching the doors we used the instruction manual as a leveler on the bottom and it gave us the perfect spacing/height so they open and close smoothly and are at an equal height.

Overall this is a nice piece after putting together, the door was not easy to assemble for a beginner, and it does not level when you tighten up both sides. My compromise is to close them at the same time. It took my husband four hours to assemble by himself. It is a steady piece, no need to fasten on the wall.

Though it was a bit difficult to put together the finished product is very nice. The only issue is that some of the seams show so I will most likely get a furniture pen in a dark cherry to cover the edges where needed. It is a bit smaller than I had wanted but I like the look of the bookshelf.

I purchased two of these to go along with the 59" credenza, and boy, putting everything together takes forever! It would be a little easier if the nails and screws were all separated, but if you have the patience to put the pieces together they come out very nice-looking.

I use it as an office bookshelf. Some pieces are not labeled, but if you are moderately talented you can figure it out. I had to modify some pieces where pre-drilled holes did not line up. In saying this, it was relatively easy to put together in about 3 hours.

We are very happy with the looks and quality of this bookcase. Our t.v. is mounted over the fireplace, and we positioned the bookcase on the adjacent wall to house the cable and router box, the printer, and other related t.v. items. The bookcase back panel has a perforated circle at each shelf level that can be punched out, which is perfect for running wires. Assembly is time consuming (approx. 2 hours), but not difficult. We also bought two matching Sauder 2-shelf bookcases (which are a breeze to assemble). Highly recommend. AND...they are made in the USA!

The bookshelf was the easiest of all the pieces that I bought, to put together. However, two of the shelves came damaged. They were missing the finish in the corners of both pieces. I am every happy with this item, but a little upset about the damaged shelves.

Beautiful woodgrain look to the Vintage Oak collection! I ordered the L-Shaped desk, 2 Library Bookshelves, and awaiting delivery of an Armoire that I will use for office supplies when stocked with bins. The assembly is somewhat involved but the instructions are clearly written and illustrated. Being a retired M. E. I had an appreciation of the design and concept of the construction and assembly process where everything went together as it should and made very sturdy and good looking furniture! Great Job!

I really like the color of this piece. The veneer is nice on the dense MDF. easy assembly and not extreme texture. I did have some pieces arrive damaged. CS immediately sent new pieces. Made in USA A+

I like the color/finish coordination with the desk and file cabinet. Needs to be at least 4" deeper for legal size paper like most other bookcases. Doors don't completely close due to this.

Love these book shelves. Looks great with my new house. My only hate with these is the fake backing. For as much as I paid for them I was hoping for actually wood backing not fake thin backing.

I bought two and placed them side by side so they look like one unit. They are nicer than I thought they would be, and look more expensive than they are. They are sturdy and heavy. The instructions were easy to follow and thorough. All the parts were delivered in good shape, labeled and the hardware comes in a separate pack that is divided by type which was super helpful. Everything aligned so putting it together was easy, although it did take some time.

Pro Great product, easy assembly instructions.would prefer less expensive quality wise. \nCons to many hooks and screws .

Took a little extra time to assemble but the final product with the details is completely worth it!
