I am always confused by the polarity of the reviews on Sauder furniture. If you are looking for artisan, hardwood products you came to the wrong place, and Sauder never claimed to be that. Sauder makes a quality, affordable product designed to look good in any decor style on almost any low-medium budget. Fact. Their products always come with fully illustrated, easy to use instructions. Fact. Their customer service is AMAZING. Fact. And just let me lean into this point a little more--I have probably 15-20 pieces of Sauder furniture. In about 5 of those cases, pieces had been damaged in transit or in the warehouse. Upon contact, Sauder has ALWAYS immediately, with no hassle, sent me the replacement part. Their initial shipment is lightning fast, as is their replacement shipping. Sauder is everything they claim to be...quality, affordable, beautiful furniture made in the USA.

I am a 58 yo grandmother. This is the easiest piece of furniture I have ever put together! I have put together desks, cabinets, repaired things etc. Easy to follow directions and it was packed well and not damaged. This is a heavy bookshelf. Sturdy, looks great and I know it will last for many years. Even though it is prefab/ laminate, if you take care of it, it will last a long time. Well worth the money I spent on it. I purchased 2 for my sewing room to stand bolts of fabric up vertically without the middle shelf. I am going to buy 2 more to stack on top of the bottom 2. I highly recommend this product. The box was wrapped in plastic so it wouldn't get wet on the rainy day it was delivered. Thank you FedEx and WalMart! I will upload pics after I get them set up with fabric bolts in it. Happy customer!

The bookcase is nice. It had easy to follow instructions if you actually read them. lol The particle board is sturdy and the veneer looks nice. I was hoping it would be more cherry than brown, but I still like the overall quality. As one other reviewer mentioned, one of the boards looked like it had been crushed, as there was a long crack in the veneer. BUT I didn't care because it is the underside of the top shelf. The carton arrived in goid condition so it wasn't done in shipping. It's sad that quality control didn't replace it. But we still used it and a brown sharpie would cover it if it really bothers me.

Nicer looking than any other non-Scandinavian assembly required furniture than any I’ve ever purchased. There are slats that slide onto the exposed shelf ends that add a more finished look and I’d assume more ridigity. I bought some contact paper to finish the bottom of the sides. Although you can’t see them, the exposed pressed wood seems like it would deteriorate over time when slid on carpeting. I then nailed some little feet to the bottom. It looks good and should help it last. With a short unit and deep shelves, it is hard to see the cardboard backing. In taller units, it may be more noticeable. After buying one small unit, I bought a second and now have purchased the tall unit.

This is a very nice bookcase for the price. We purchased it for my mother in a retirement home. It will not get a lot of use or abuse and we'll fit her needs fine. We did have one problem with the top. We screwed the screws in that were given and when we turned it over two of the screws punctured the top of a bookcase. Of course we were terribly disappointed. I don't know why it happened with only two screws? We wrote Sauder to explain what happened and asked for a new top. Within 2 days they had mailed it and it was sitting on our porch! We were very impressed with the service. Thank you Sauder!

Overall good bookcase - assembly is easy, it is sturdy, and it looks exactly like the pictures. Two minor things: 1) I had a bit of difficulty attaching the bottom front molding as the handle of my screwdriver was thicker than the height of the screw hole, so I couldnt keep the screwdriver perfectly aligned. Attaching the angle brackets to the molding first would have avoided this. 2) the top front molding is slightly misaligned, so there is a gap when viewed from the side.\nAlso be prepared for bits of styrofoam packing to statically stick for a while.

This is pretty good furniture. It is not fine furniture. It is particle pressed MDF board that has a laminate top. Having said that it works for a short time and for the price. Take your time putting it together. The peices don't always line up precisely. Like I said, the is not fine furniture. You may even have to use a furniture maker later to enhance scuff marks. It's work the money but anymore than that. You may as well go to a furniture store. Walmart was quick and efficient I there delivery as all.

Did 6 of these for and Eagle Scout project at our local library. Only complaint is that bottom half is held to the top half by only 4 cam bolts. When you lay it on it's face to put the back panel on SUPPORT IT IN THE MIDDLE! Doesn't take much of a push down to "break" it in the middle and rip out the cam bolts, damaging the wood they anchor into in the process. Adding a little wood glue where the halves meet wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

this bookcase came very quickly to my house. the instructions were easy to read and the assembly was pretty quick. although i can't use it for all my albums, which is what i purchased it to hold, the bottom row does hold most of them. because of the trim piece at the top, i was unable to stand a second group of lps on the top shelf. it is a very handsome piece of furniture.

Bought 6 of these for the mini library, again Sauder makes product that looks good & for a reasonable price. I enjoy the attention to cosmetic detail, overall finish. \n\nWish the instructions were more detailed, some visual steps include detail that is not readily apparent on the worksheet. Or send a QR code that has a very detailed & legible PDF for download.

I bought to of these shelves to go with a Sauder TV stand I bought and put together during the height of COVID, in anticipation of turning a room in my basement into a TV room. I finally completed the room and put the shelves together. As I found out building the TV stand, Sauder has the best assembly instructions. The shelves are sturdy enough for anything I will put them through. A rep at Sauder even helped me match colors.

These bookcases actually look much higher quality than they are. The finish really looks like real wood. They were very easy to put together, and are quite sturdy. Since I have carpet, the shelves leaned back a tiny bit, so I cut the instruction pamphlet into quarters, rolled the pieces up, and wedged them under the back corners of each shelf. Worked like a charm, but if you have hardwood or tile it will be fine. Highly recommend.

Excellent value, easy assembly, and looks as nice as similar products for twice the price. Ordering online was easy and shipping was free. The finish is a little darker cherry than I expected, but the color still works with my lighter cherry pieces. We were looking for a bookcase that wasn't overpowering in size. The height, depth, and width on this one is perfect for our smaller room size. Highly recommend.

Got this for my home office and it looks great and functions well. The shelves are strong and 4 are adjustable. Assembly was easier than similar products we have since Sauder instructions use words instead of just diagrams as most others do. I was able to do all but the last two steps by myself, but did need help to flip it over to do the back. Great bookshelf!

We were looking for a small bookcase for our guest room, but not looking to spend much money. I have bought and used Sauder furniture in the past, so when I saw this Sauder bookcase I thought I would give it a try. It is a great looking bookcase for the price, and it does what it's suppose too. Great finish, holds a good amount of books, and does not look cheap.

Well, for the price it's not bad, it looks very nice, I had no problems with assembly, or missing parts, nails or screws, directions are very clear and easy to read / understand, it had a couple of dents, but, it's understandable, the way packages are treated during transport is rough.

I bought these to replace 2 taller Sauder bookcases that I've had for 25 years and are now at my daughter's house. The quality is amazing. These are the only bookcases I found with a good depth to accommodate larger photo albums. The shelves are very sturdy and putting them together was easy. \nI like your variety of finishes as well.

This looks very nice, went together easily and matches well with our new build it yourself library shelves. It's construction was quite different so I fear it is not as sturdy but time will tell. It took longer than I expected to arrive as it was a week.

I am beyond pleased with this product. It's easy to assemble and the finished product has a classy look. One piece was damaged when I received it, but because it went on the inside and wouldn't be seen I didn't fuss with trying to return it. The shelf meets the exact purpose of what I needed it to be.

I bought the 2 shelf unit but now I wish I had gotten the 3 shelf unit. Assembly was a breeze, it took maybe 20 minutes after I unboxed everything to make sure it wasn't damaged. Once assembled I noticed everything fit together really well. You would never know I didn't buy it at a furniture store.

I bought this to use in our living room as a toy shelf for our little one. It worked out great. It's nice looking & plenty solid for what we wanted. I got it on sale so the price was easier to accept. It is still sauder so I think it should be a tad cheaper in general, but overall it's a nice shelf.

Had 5 Sauder bookcases at my other house in a long hallway. We moved & downsized. I bought another bookcase from another company which did not work. I went back to Sauder, bought 2 bookcases & was not disappointed. Was easy to put together & I love the color! Would order again from them!

It's more solid than a lot of the engineered wood bookcases I've seen, and would recommend to someone looking for to not spend $500 plus on a smaller bookcase. It goes great in my living room and I plan on checking out this brand again for large cases for the rest of my book collection.

I gave this product 3 stars because the directions were incorrect. You must put the side moldings on before attaching the top. We attached the top first, as directed by the instructions, and the moldings could not be slid on that way so we had to detach the top and pull nails out of the backing before we could get the moldings on. It was a pain but we got it done. Otherwise this is a nice looking piece of furniture, and very sturdy for the price. Perfect for my sons playroom.
