First, I love the finish on these bookcases. I ordered three of them and I am very happy with my purchase. Second, the only problem I have with them, is that the cover ups for the cam locks and screw holes dont fit right. there not snug enough to stay in place, I noticed this only after vacuuming them up into my dust cup, so when I went too empty the vacuum I came across them. I think I will try to find some matching putty and use that instead. However, for the price that I paid for them I wanted them perfect. Other than that, I would order again. The first one had taken me 2 1/2 hours to put together because I had to lay everything out since some of the boards were not labeled. once I learned how everything went together, the assembly went good and quick. the second one I had put together went together in 35 minutes. I was shocked with how much they look like real wood. I was kinda wowed by that. overall 5 stars and no damage from shipping. well worth the money and time spent on them. they fit my storage boxes that I have very well. thanks again.

I really wanted some bookshelves...

I really wanted some bookshelves on both side of my fireplace, and would have someone do a custom build, but just couldnt afford it. So i started looking for some bookshelves online. The Sauder line is well-known. The packaging was well done, everything was well protected. There are 2 grooves cut into the 2 moveable shelves, and these are on purpase. I read a couple reviews that said they returned them due to broken shelves, but i wonder if they didnt realize the grooves in them are supposed to look that way so they can slide into the matching trim piece. I purchased 2 and while the first one took longer to put together (a little over an hour) - the second one was very easy and only took 20 minutes. There is a decent warranty and a safety mechanism to attach to the wall (we didnt) to keep them from tipping over on a small child. I chose the “weathered farmhouse” finish. We now have room to display all our books, plus a few knick-knacks. I chose the “pick-up” option and 2 employees brought the bookcases to my car. Pretty happy with this purchase.

I am always confused by the polarity of the reviews on Sauder furniture. If you are looking for artisan, hardwood products you came to the wrong place, and Sauder never claimed to be that. Sauder makes a quality, affordable product designed to look good in any decor style on almost any low-medium budget. Fact. Their products always come with fully illustrated, easy to use instructions. Fact. Their customer service is AMAZING. Fact. And just let me lean into this point a little more--I have probably 15-20 pieces of Sauder furniture. In about 5 of those cases, pieces had been damaged in transit or in the warehouse. Upon contact, Sauder has ALWAYS immediately, with no hassle, sent me the replacement part. Their initial shipment is lightning fast, as is their replacement shipping. Sauder is everything they claim to be...quality, affordable, beautiful furniture made in the USA.

This bookcase is better than I expected!! I am pleasantly surprised with how sturdy and well-made it is. The color is perfect. We recently bought a Pottery Barn kids bedroom set on sale and this bookcase matches it almost perfectly! I’ve been having a hard time finding the right bookcase to go with the set. You can’t even tell it’s not part of the set, it’s perfect. (The color is brushed fog at PBK.) This bookcase holds loads of books. The shelves are deep, have nice trim on the front and are adjustable. The anti-tip wall safety kit was easy to install. This bookcase is HEAVY, so the safety kit is necessary for little ones. We also ended up leaving off the weird screw hole plugs because they stood out too much and weren’t needed. I’m so happy with this, especially for the price. One last thing, it did have a “new furniture” smell and needed to air out for a couple days.

This is the 2nd 3-shelf bookcase I bought. I bought 3 5-shelf bookcases about 5 years ago and I liked them so much that about a year later I needed a 3-shelf bookcase I was able to match it exactly. Then I needed another 3-shelf bookcase for another area and was I was worried I wouldn't find one exactly. Low and behold, I found another one --- same style, same color, same everything. I did keep the booklet that came with the first 3-shelf one that had the item number on it and it was still available. As of putting it together, besides being a bit heavy, it was relatively easy. I'm 63 years old and have a really bad back, so crawling on the floor was a bit difficult, the assembly wasn't. Good construction, easy directions, all the parts were there. I definitely would recommend this item.

I use the bookcase to hold books and memorabilia. It looks good and appears to be sturdy once completely assembled. I would recommend it to a friend only if that friend had good handyman skills.\nIt appears that the designers have never personally assembled on of these. There are easy changes that could be made to make the assembly easier and the assembled bookshelf sturdier.\nThe piece that has a slit cut in it instead of holes for the screws should be redesigned to have screw holes. I had to drill holes anyway to get the screws to go in, and factory predrilled holes help to align..\nWhen you flip over the bookcase to attach the back it is very weak, balanced on only the top and bottom trim pieces. A very minor amount of pressure causes the hidden fasteners to pull out. This ruins the usefulness of the hidden fasteners and requires the customer to make another way to fasten the top and bottom together.\nThe shelf supports are too easy to push all the way through the side panels. They should be replaced with the widely used shelf supports that prevent this.

This bookcase item arrived at my home in one large box. it's a team lift, advise don't attempt to lift on your own. Upon opening the package I found all items securely packed and available to me. No missing items. Instruction book present and no damage to contents. The bookcase uses cam locks and the bolts are covered in plastic. Do not mistake those plastic covers and don't tamper with them (they look like packing material - they are not). They are important to help secure the walls to the top and bottom pieces. After all was said and done, we are satisfied with our purchase and the item is sitting in the back office of our home doing it's job silently and reliably.

While it is made of particle board it does feel sturdy once assembled. A nice large bookshelf for the price. The directions are easy to follow, detailed, witty, and helpful. The back piece was a pain to put on as expected but they include a nail holder to make it easier. The vintage brown has a slight gray look but nothing drastic. The doors close easily and the shelf itself is heavy and sturdy. Assembled it by myself but having a helper would make it go by faster, took about 2.5 hours start to finish myself. The screws and such were nicely labeled but the boards lacked stickers, was not hard to figure out what is what though. Feels closer to a real wood bookshelf compared to regular online furniture purchases.

I love the look of the bookcase. I purchased the Chalked Chestnut to match my desk and file cabineta which are also from Sauder. It was easy to assemble and the directions are even humorous. I would have given 5 stars but there were 2 things about it that I didn't like. One, after installing the cabinet doors, there is a slight gap between them when they are closed. The directions do not mention if there is any way to adjust the doors to correct this. The second thing I didn't like was the color of the cabinet knobs. They are a brownish gold and would look better with silver knobs. So, I will be replacing those.

I purchased this bookcase for use in our office. It was easy to assemble for the most part, though there was one tricky piece, and the back piece did not quite cover the entire back (so we had to be careful with placement of the nails since one edge of the back piece only covered about half of one of the sides). The bookcase looks nice, except for some of the joints don't 100% butt up and you can see unstained wood through the gaps. It was priced lower than many other options, though. I would recommend if you are purchasing mostly for utility, and not looking for something that looks high-end.

I searched the Web looking for a used bookcase as I didn't want to spend too much money, I'm thrifty (cheap). I discovered this bookcase on Wal Mart & found I would spend as much, sometimes less, than for a used one. BUT, this bookcase was the exact size I needed, the used ones were not. I bought two & will buy another to completely cover a whole wall in my man cave. They assembled easily, are sturdy, match my decor, and are good-looking. Although they aren't solid wood, so far (two months) they are holding up even in my dampish environment with the shelves loaded with books. I probably should have rated the bookcase a 5 for value, but I didn't, so there.

Sauder is a name brand in the sense it's been around a very long time. Yes, it's particle board. The color is absolutely wonderful. At a glance it looks like a nice piece of furniture. Putting it together was somewhat of a challenge. Be sure to read the instructions before beginning! I had to undo a few screws. Overall I would recommend it for light use and not for super heavy items. They do have other pieces in this color but I believe they were out of stock at last glance. The shelves are adjustable as well which is also a plus!

I purchased this bookcase for my home office from the website. I liked the color and look of the finish on the web and I was not disappointed when it arrived. The assembly instructions were some of the best I’ve seen. A hammer, screwdriver, and 30 minutes to assemble. Two minor flaws, the back is cardboard not plywood and on trim piece was a little short of the edge. Overall the price was good, the piece isn’t flimsy and I’d say it was a good buy. Compared to a file cabinet I purchased this was far superior.

This is a durable, simple, but nice looking bookcase. This is the second one I have purchased. I have a lot of craft books and supplies that I need to organize and this works very well. The shelves hold a lot of weight without bending. The backing is made of cardboard and finished to match the shelves. I worried that this wouldn't be durable but it had lasted very nicely on my other bookcase that I have owned for several years without any problems. I like the adjustable options so I can move the shelves to fit my needs.

I have bought Sauder products in the past, so when I was looking for a bookcase, and the Sauder name popped up, I clicked, and a few days later, the package arrived. It seems Sauder has lost their edge. There are two ways in which the quality is less than I expected. 1) The simulated woodgrain on the back panel was printed off-center, leaving it unprinted along one edge. I got around this by installing the panel so the defect was at the bottom, where it will be covered by books, so people won't see it. But still, it should have been better. 2) The screw holes used to be covered by plastic plugs, that weren't elegant, but at least they looked like they were supposed to be there, but now the screw holes are covered with faux-woodgrain stickers that try to match the bookcase, but don't; they look cheap. Overall, the product looks like it was designed by accountants.

All the hardware came mixed together in the same bag. Two of the pieces have blemishes. 5 of the peices were not labeled as to what part they were. Putting it together was a little frustrating because of that. Dispite that, it was fairly easy to assemble. When I opened the back to put it on, I thought someone vomited. It stunk! Really hope that smell goes away fast. HOWEVER, once put together, it looked really good. It's fairly heavy and seems that it will last for a good while.

I just finished assembling and filling two new Sauder bookshelves. We selected these primarily because we have always been happy with the products Sauder sells, and these are a close match to the ones we purchased a few years ago. Those are in the other room and look as good as the day we bought them. These units go together so quickly and easily - I am a slow worker and still managed to complete two of them in an evening. We will soon be looking to replace some other shelves upstairs, and I am certain we will be shopping at Sauder for those as well.

Great product with a minor flaw

I really like the way the product looks and it is high quality. My only issue is hidden cams used to fasten some of the parts together. It is a nice way to eliminate the visibility of hardware but these cams do not seem to have very strong hold. When moving the completed unit, some of the pieces had a tendency to separate. I was doing my best not to put any stress on the unit, but it still occurred a couple of times. Difficult to reset them with a fully assembled unit.

I really liked the completed look. It's very versatile. I'm using it for books, display of pretty bottles ect. I am also using it as a tall tv stand (which is not recommended by the manufacturer). I'm a rebel. What I didn't like was the daunting task of figuring out the locking screws. A family member put it together for me. This newer way of doing things makes me feel old. It's finished now and my showpiece in my bedroom. It is exactly what I needed.

Did 6 of these for and Eagle Scout project at our local library. Only complaint is that bottom half is held to the top half by only 4 cam bolts. When you lay it on it's face to put the back panel on SUPPORT IT IN THE MIDDLE! Doesn't take much of a push down to "break" it in the middle and rip out the cam bolts, damaging the wood they anchor into in the process. Adding a little wood glue where the halves meet wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

It took me a little over an hour working at a casual pace. I will say that I am a pretty big, strong guy, so if you are smaller or lacking physical strength, I recommend finding someone to help with the lifting. It comes with with a wall anchor to prevent tipping, but unless you have small children or pets who may climb on it, I don't think it's necessary to go through the trouble. I have hardwood floors and my bookcase is very study. There is no wobbling at all. Great instructions; looks nice.

Although it was flagged to be a week late, it was actually delivered a day early. The produst was impressively and cleverly well-packaged. The materials were solid and of good quality. The bookcase was well-designed and easy to assemble. The instructions were clear and easy to follow (although details about 1 part were missing, but easy to figure out anyway). Assembled, it looks as good as many custom-made bookcases, and it holds a lot of books. It's well worth what I paid for it.

I was able to easily assemble the bookcase model 426419. It took about two hours. This was my first experience with the hidden cam technology, and they worked great. It was not mentioned in the instructions, but I added a drop of contact cement to each of the hidden cams just to be on the safe side. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The anti-tip feature added to the safety of the product. I would recommend this bookcase to anyone seeking a great looking piece of furniture.

I enjoy the attention to cosmetic detail, overall finish. \n\nWish the instructions were more detailed, some visual steps include detail that is not readily apparent on the worksheet. I bought to of these shelves to go with a Sauder TV stand I bought and put together during the height of COVID, in anticipation of turning a room in my basement into a TV room. I finally completed the room and put the shelves together. As I found out building the TV stand, Sauder has the best assembly instructions. The shelves are sturdy enough for anything I will put them through. A rep at Sauder even helped me match colors.

I have always liked Sauder's products quality. The bookcase was not as high in quality as I had become used to from Sauder. The packaging left room for improvement and I was concerned that the product might be damaged from shipping. As it turns out, it was ok except for one small area on the back edge of the top board that doesn't show anyway. I really wish the side pieces would have been a single board from top to bottom.

its a heavy bookshelf unit, shelves can be adjusted. the directions are a bit to follow, so it requires patience and time, but once built, its' very handsome, substantial and looks like real wood. in fact, i brought another one for the piano room to store my books as this one is in the living room for the dvd's and paperweights. sauder makes good furniture. Will say they packed it super well that nothing was scratched.

I purchased the bookcase for my husband as a Father's Day gift. It is a nice looking bookcase. When my husband was assembling the it, he noticed a piece of the shelf molding was broken. He was able to put the shelf molding on the bookcase but you can tell where the break is. I'm hoping that Sauder will replace the piece.

This is a perfectly sturdy looking shelf and aside from what im about to say it was easy to put together and looked great until. I noticed that while putting in the last shelf… basically the very Last step the little bracket that holds the shelves up broke though the side of the shelf! Like i didnt even have the shelf on that part of the side panel for it to break through. Idk what happened but now there is a hole on the side of my bookshelf. I’ll eventually patch it and fix it because im not going through the process of returning it. Its already put together. Im just disappointed in this brand new item and a stupid peg being strong enough to punch a hole in the side panel…
