We purchased this product as shelving in our laundry room. This is sturdy enough to hold detergents and cleaning supplies for our family of seven. Assembly was a breeze. Kudos to the folks involved with creating and introducing the "nail holder". I'll be keeping it for use on future projects. Well done! We are perfectly satisfied. That being said, we know you are always searching for ways to improve and speed up assembly, so we have two suggestions that might be actionable. The 'G' sticker was on the finished face of the BACK. Because of this I spent about two minutes taking it off (if I did it really slowly the adhesive peeled off with the sticker). If the sticker had been on the UNFINISHED face of the BACK, I would have been done with the assembly another two minutes quicker with no risk of tearing the finish face or leaving adhesive on that beautiful surface. Also, at first we had shelf E wrong-side-up. I had looked for pre-drilled holes but didn't see any, and then (incorrectly) figured that I had it right-side-up. I realize after some thought that pre-drilled holes would be a mistake, but how about two small orange filled circles that LOOKED like pre-drilled holes. Then you ask the customer to look into the holes in the BACK to be sure they see orange. \n\nOne more note after having to re-write my review TWO times... submitting this comment was way frustrating! Please let your documentation team loose on the folks that designed this web site that requires me to disable my browser security just to submit a five star review! The is the first and only frustration I've ever had with Sauder and it is a pretty big one. I know you folks will figure it out. Thank you.

This bookcase is a cut above what one might expect for the amount of money it costs, and in comparison with its obvious competition from the likes of Ikea. The parts fit together well; the finished product looks good, and it is sturdy enough to do what it is designed to do, which is carry things like books. But what really sets this unit, and this company, apart is the quality, clarity, and intelligence of the instructions. They are clear. They are direct. They are easy to follow. The produce the result you need. The parts work the way that they are described in the instructions. I felt absolutely no frustration while putting this unit together, and that, in itself, is unusual. If you are looking for a functional and presentable bookcase, this one certainly qualifies.

I am really impressed with the quality and look of this bookcase! The wood grain finish has a nice, rustic feel that looks much more expensive than it actually was. This is my 2nd time ordering this exact item. I liked the first one and wanted a matching set. It does take quite a bit of time to put together, but the cuts in the wood are perfect and align very well. The quality is really nice. The only downside to this product i'd say would be that it does scratch very easily and when putting this together, you need to have it flat on the floor and rotate it on a couple sides. So, putting it together on tile or hardwood floor runs the risk of scratching. Carpet would be much better.

The plastic cam lock covers are terrible and were really hard to get in place. They should have grooves to match on the part that inserts into the center of cam lock so they just slide in and stay in place while you're pushing them in to secure them. Two of them bent so much I couldn't use them and two of them ended up being installed off center. Overall it's a really nice piece and pretty easy to assemble. The plastic cam lock covers are my only real complaint.

Did 6 of these for and Eagle Scout project at our local library. Only complaint is that bottom half is held to the top half by only 4 cam bolts. When you lay it on it's face to put the back panel on SUPPORT IT IN THE MIDDLE! Doesn't take much of a push down to "break" it in the middle and rip out the cam bolts, damaging the wood they anchor into in the process. Adding a little wood glue where the halves meet wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

Very sturdy bookcase and love the quality. My only issue was the color. I ordered the chalked chestnut and on the site it looks more like it's in the brown/beige family and has a warmer tone. But it is definitely a cooler gray tone. This was only important to me because I had a very specific color palette I was trying to achieve. If I could have just taken half a star I would have. Otherwise, I would recommend it as it is a beautiful product.

Bought two bookcases. The first went together with no problems. The second one the cam screws pulled out maybe to much weight when attempting to attach the bottom to the top. Since there is a lip on the top and the bottom should have put a support under at the middle attachment area. We were abel to stand it up. And using some glue got it back together and added a support on both sides securing the top to the bottom unit

Bookcases look great, and feel pretty solid. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars, is because out of 2 bookcases, I had to modify the holes on the doors to make the hinges fit on 3 out of 4 doors. On top of that, the first one I built didn't have the screws to mount the hinges at all, but I did have a second bag of nails. Always double check the hardware and all of the pieces before you start building.

I am using my two bookcases primarily for books but, as additional shelf space for a number of small items, as well. The overall quality of the bookcase(s) is very good considering the material used for the various unit panels. I think some information should be included about leveling the unit (both side-to-side and front to back) once it is put in place. All floors aren't exactly level.

It looks really good and solid. Easy to follow instructions. I liked the little nail holder for the back. It made it so easy to position the nails correctly. My only complaint is that two of the front facing pieces seem a little short. I'll just fill in with some builders putty and it could possibly have been my construction technique all in all great product

Bought 6 of these for the mini library, again Sauder makes product that looks good & for a reasonable price. I enjoy the attention to cosmetic detail, overall finish. \n\nWish the instructions were more detailed, some visual steps include detail that is not readily apparent on the worksheet. Or send a QR code that has a very detailed & legible PDF for download.

I enjoyed assembling this bookcase with the three shelf case I bought at the same time. Once again, I have to say you could improve the design with a sturdier backing. It tore along the fold just by placing it before nailing. I enhanced your design by gluing and screwing and adding a stronger backing along with wood trim stained to match my existing cases.

This corner bookcase fit a small space in my apartment really well. The assembly took a while but was okay. My only issue was that some pieces were not marked with the sticker to match the instructions for assembly. I was able to figure it out, but it probably would have gone a little quicker if all of the pieces had been marked instead of just some of them.

This bookshelf fits the space beautifully and hods everything I needed to put there. It is not as sturdy as some, since the backing is wood printed cardboard, but it does keep the shape of the bookshelf very stable. Otherwise, it is doing its job well, holding many books and papers. The color matches some of the other pieces we have, so it looks great.

I purchased the bookcase for my husband as a Father's Day gift. It is a nice looking bookcase. When my husband was assembling the it, he noticed a piece of the shelf molding was broken. He was able to put the shelf molding on the bookcase but you can tell where the break is. I'm hoping that Sauder will replace the piece.

I am always confused by the polarity of the reviews on Sauder furniture. If you are looking for artisan, hardwood products you came to the wrong place, and Sauder never claimed to be that. The bookcase is made of MDF, so I wasn't expecting a first- class product, but it was easy to hammer in a nail from the back and end up splitting the wood from the laminate side. Also, white STICKERS to place over the visible screws?? What happened to plastic caps?

This is the second Sauder bookshelf I purchased. As with the first, assembly was fairly easy, though I recommend putting on the cam covers BEFORE standing it up. (Much less swearing on my end.) Overall it is a solid and nice looking piece.

I use the bookcase to hold books and memorabilia. It looks good and appears to be sturdy once completely assembled. I would recommend it to a friend only if that friend had good handyman skills.\nIt appears that the designers have never personally assembled on of these. There are easy changes that could be made to make the assembly easier and the assembled bookshelf sturdier.\nThe piece that has a slit cut in it instead of holes for the screws should be redesigned to have screw holes. I had to drill holes anyway to get the screws to go in, and factory predrilled holes help to align..\nWhen you flip over the bookcase to attach the back it is very weak, balanced on only the top and bottom trim pieces. A very minor amount of pressure causes the hidden fasteners to pull out. This ruins the usefulness of the hidden fasteners and requires the customer to make another way to fasten the top and bottom together.\nThe shelf supports are too easy to push all the way through the side panels. They should be replaced with the widely used shelf supports that prevent this.
