The door is very easy to install. It closes very securely, and it looks amazing. There is a major dislike that I have with this door. The trim pieces that are supposed to lock the screen and storm door in place are very questionable. I had a very hard time getting them to actually engage and lock the screen door in place. One side actually locks but the other three sides are constantly falling out. I tried to find a video on you tube and the home depot site but nothing really addressed what I am doing wrong. If the screen door is loose that is not a big deal but of the storm door is loose and falls there will be broken glass everywhere. The instruction manual had little to say about it. I think is a bad engineering design. I do like the dual closers. It makes for a tight seal.

We bought this to replace pretty much the same product after 12 years due to a handle/lock breaking down along with some insulation fails over time. This door was installed by a professional builder to make sure it was done properly. The first time it rained we had a lot of water make it around the window and had to call our builder back to do some adjustments and additional sealing. Now, it drags and catches the top trim so it will need another adjustment. The last one had none of these issues and was a true “storm” door so I’m concerned maybe it’s a manufacturing issue. No idea on how to proceed if we need to replace it. Very frustrating to pay $400 for an install, a re-install and additional adjustments that may or may not fix the issue.

Recently I purchased an Andersen premium 3000 series 1 1/2” Self-Storing Storm Door with Balanced Retractable Insect Screen and Integrated Close System ($700+) (See Pic)\r\nUnpacking the Door at my home I found noticeable damage to upper outer surface involving scraping/abrasion/gouging (see pic). I noted that the door lacked any protective plastic film on either side as stated in the installation instructions.I proceeded to install the door without incident. Its premium features includes its hardware, the custom dashpot allowing for ease of opening, and the clever roller screen, not to mention the dead bolt which closes like a bank vault door. Oddly enough once I had installed the door I discovered two tiny white nipples, a tiny black plastic extrusion, and a round spring locking washer all of which (see pic) I have no idea where they go. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK ABOUT THE SURFACE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND WHAT ACCOMMODATION ANDERSEN/Home Depot INTENDS TO PROPOSE. I NORMALLY NEVER LEAVE HOME DEPOT WITHOUT FIRST CAREFULLY CHECKING SPECIAL ORDERS BECAUSE I’VE HAD ISSUES IN THE PAST WITH BROKEN TOILETS, DAMAGED WINDOW BLINDS, ETC.\r\nFinally, regarding the plastic screen handle, why would you not use self tapping screws to attach the handle? I had to find the smallest tap in my collection in order to start the thread for the screws. PLEASE would someone from either Andersen or Home Depot get back to me regarding the irregularities I encountered in this purchase and installation. .For almost a thousand dollar purchase one should and must expect perfection.

Purchased this as a replacement for an old worn down door that came from the previous homeowners. A few things to note here. \n\nInstructions and installation: Everything is labeled properly, the picture diagrams really make installation a breeze and it came with all the necessary hardware needed to get the installation done! \n\nCustomer service: so far their customer service has been wonderful! They answer quickly and were very helpful when we needed it! No issues with them so far\n\nShipping/packaging: here’s where it gets a little upsetting. Shipping was fast, and everything was included. However we noticed some blemishes on both the handle and on the door itself in the form of scratches and missing paint. I’m unsure how these happened, and if it was at the factory or if it was during shipping. \n\nOverall this is a very nice door! I enjoy its weight, and the finish. The glass does a good job at regulating heat as advertised but if you have a south facing door that’s painted a dark color definitely take advantage of that roll out screen! Installation was a breeze but the gas closer seems to be defective and closes at a different rate each time I open the door. Hopefully I can lean on that previously mentioned excellent customer service some more for that. And the only thing that I wish was different was the track in which the screen window runs through. It’s made of plastic and seems flimsy, although it hasn’t affected the use of the door yet! The brackets do leave some small yet unsightly holes in the door frame upon finishing the installation, and the handle catches if it’s overtightened. Overall I feel like this is a really good mid range door, and you can’t beat their customer service! I’d recommend this door again.

We bought the 3000 series door. Installation was easy enough and we love the look and operation of the door. I can't help but feel like I was misled by all the pictures of the door on the HD website. Every picture shows the door with the handle attached. I didn't expect the handle to be attached to the new door but was surprised to learn that it was not included with the door. The handle kit is displayed in the store right next to the doors and is available in two colors for $74.95 for either one. I was a bit of a shock to have to pay that much for the handle kit after the high price of the door.

Quality Going downhill. I have installed this model door on a lot of homes they are truly simple to install. The problem i have seen is the longevity. The fit and finish is poor. The z bar that holds the hinges seems to always be offset and it causes the hinges to wear themselves out and cut through\nThe washers on the Z-bar. This causes the door\nTo fall out of square and the little screws to pull out of the hinge. Would like to see a more robust hinge for the money. Great door for the first couple years but not a product that will stand the test of time.

Other than a couple factory QC defects I’d give it a 10 out of 10. After careful installation I noticed scratches in finish at top left corner of the door’s exterior. I didn’t return it because of logistical nightmare. I had to have a friend pick up the door at Home Depot, another friend help me install. I didn’t want to repeat the same steps. \r\nAfter installing, I noticed the sliding window’s weatherstripping didn’t seal the window. \r\nI will switch brands for my other door needing a storm door.

For $357 and an Anderson product I'd expect better build quality. Door had scratches/dings on the first unit and when we had issues opening the door upon install we swapped it for a second unit that had similar scratches/dings. Overall it's a decent door but the build quality leaves much more to be desired with a small gap allowing light/air through in the frame and the plastic handle to lower and raise the glass/screen just feels like it's going to break in the future.

My house didn't have a storm door and barely any overhang above the front door, so I wanted this to keep rain and snow off. I looked at the display models in store and the 3000 felt overall like a much higher quality door. It feels heavier and more robust, closes securely, and has effective weather stripping that even helps block noise. I chose a black door and handle to match the other black accents of my house and I think it looks great. It came with a screen that can be swapped out, but I don't ever plan on using it. I think the door elevates the look of the house and adds to the modest curb appeal.\n\nI've read a lot of mixed things about the installation service performed by RFI. The door measurement is scheduled first. I scheduled a specific time and day, and the person showed up four hours early to measure the door. That wasn't a huge deal since nothing was really needed from me just to measure. However, I did need to be there for the installation, and I became concerned that the person would again show up earlier than expected. After the measurement, it took almost a month to get the installation scheduled. I had to call Home Depot a couple times and messaged RFI on Facebook (that was the only contact method I could find) to get the ball rolling on just scheduling the installation. Finally someone from RFI texted me and it was scheduled. Sure enough, the guy did arrive hours earlier than the scheduled time. But he seemed to do a good job with the installation and it only took about 30 minutes.

Well this is disappointing, not quite 3 years in and the screen came loose on one side, the CS suggested rolling it fully down and up a few times to see if that would FIX it. It made the problem even worse it went from a few inches loose to the WHOLE side is now off track. \r\nSure they will send me a new screen / track but they don't provide installation so I have to pay someone to install it. So much for a quality door ..

I’ve had this door for a number of years now. Never used the screen but the full glass is nice to have. My problem is the hinge panel has failed at the hinges. Two of them have snapped from use. I can’t seem to find the correct hinge panel and for the cost, I will probably end up having to buy another storm door. I do wish these things lasted longer.

I've only had this door a few weeks. A couple of days ago I noticed the rubber strip at the bottom of the top window is wonky. Maybe from the sun heating the door and the window being down. It's concerning for me, since this door is new. I hope this isn't an indication of an issue that may be caused in the not so distant future.

Install was easy and we’ve really enjoyed the air floor it has allowed for our house. Less than a year into use the screen tore in the retraction mechanism. Unlike a solid screen there appears to be no way to patch the screen so it quickly damaged the entire screen so that one side is completely disconnected

Door was out of square. Required modifications after it was screwed in per instructions. Door closure piston leaks black grease that got tracked in by pets. Door closure does not allow door to open fully. At times it does not close the door fully.\nCan not contact anyone via phone # on box.

Nice looking door, but the bottom mechanism to hold the door open came loose already after having it professionally installed by Home Depot. Tried contacting installer for fix, no return contact.

Door frame became brittle and cracked after 2 years. Contacted Andersen the balmes it on external force like hail storm or someone stepped on it. Disgusted by their assumptions.

The storm door was really easy to install however the quality was not what I expected from Andersen. One side of the screen track was warped out of the box.

The install was easy and it looks great except for the paint, it looked like it needed another coat of paint, it had spots where you could see the primer.

We purchased this screen door from Home Depot last summer for our enclosed back porch and this summer the screen track is already falling out

Like the full glass and roll down screen. The full glass makes the room bright . The upper screen is great if you have pets.

Just finished installing this door, replacing a 15yr old Andersen 2000 door (the old design with the push in retaining strips for the door insert which were a nightmare to deal with twice a year). I love the new retractable screen - that seems to work well. However there were a number of annoyances with the installation.\n\n1. The door has a paper sticker in the middle of the glass window, that doesn't peel off cleanly. I had to use a razor blade and some acetone to get rid of it all. Why?\n2. The exterior snap in screw cover strips were too loose and one side slides right out under gravity. I'll have to use a dab of caulk to hold it in place.\n3. The instruction manual has some minor errors (e.g. tells you to go to page 10 to continue with right hand door installation when it should be page 9 and at one point mentions a white plug that doesn't exist in any of the hardware bags).\n4. Unlike the old door frame that you had to cut to fit your door, this door is pre-installed in it's frame and you just center the frame in your doorway and screw it in. The specs allow for a 1/2" variation in opening size, however because there's no horizontal adjustability, this means that if your opening is on the larger end of this range you will have a ~1/4" gap between the hinge rail and the door jam. I wasn't very happy with this so I made some inserts to go behind the hinge rail to support it better, which was fiddly and would have been a lot easier to do before the frame was screwed to the exterior trim in the first step.

The storm door was icing on the cake on this older home! I had torn out the old door / frame and installed a new fiberglass door then added the Andersen 3000 storm door for added protection. This was my first time using an Andersen 3000 and after seeing how easy it was to install plus the features / functionality I went back to Home depot and purchased this same door to use on another porch door at this house. This door is solidly built has top and bottom closers that make for a tight seal when the door is closed. Also, the glass is held secureily in place with top and bottom clips and it doesn't shake / rattle when the door closes. I also purchased an additonal Andersen handle and it was a quick / easy install. I like the fact that the handle is large and you can grab / turn it with your hand which is nice for older people who may have less strength.

Door installed easy enough and works fine however I didn't notice the deep scratches down to the metal in one outside facing corner, around the door handle and a gouge that was painted over from the factory in the trim around the glass. Oh and the edge was slightly deformed. The packaging is barely adequate and a 1cent piece of plastic film to protect the finish may have prevented this. The gouge though was just from really poor Quality control. I own two of these and other was fine so I guess its a crap shoot what condition it will be in when you open an otherwise undamaged box. Best part is its not returnable.

I bought this Anderson Storm Door around the 1st of June .it was installed by Home Depot installers. It worked perfectly for 3 weeks and then started sticking at the top of the door.\nWe cannot get the door open without a major struggle to the point that we won’t even pull it closed for fear of not being able to get it open. This means we are not locking it at night.\n\nAs an elderly couple we need to be able to get out of our house without hardship in case of an emergency or just plain living life in and out.\n\nWent to the Home Depot store in Greenville to talk to customer service about the problem thinking they would contact their store sponsored installers to come out and correct the problem. Instead I was told that I should reach out to the installer as they (Home Depot) only sold the \ndoor to which I pointed out that the installers were hired by Home Depot. Still I was instructed that contacting installer was my only recourse. I have contacted installer both by email and voice mail and have received no response as we sit here with a door that we are unable to close and lock.\n\nThe Anderson door was very expensive and is great quality but only if it works!\n\nBuyer beware: Home Depot sells a product that offers installers but affords the consumer no assistance if the install is not working as guaranteed.
