Good Value For The Price Point

My real rating for the Vivoactive 6 is 3½ stars, but half stars are not allowed. Let me get the bad stuff out of the way, right up front. My primary activity is Road Bicycling, with General Gym Exercise , and Tai Chi filling in the rest of my lifestyle activities. For Cycling, I have an Edge 540 that gives me most of what I want to see. I bought this because I wanted to add Heart Rate data from my rides, but I did not want anything strapped to my chest. The Vivoactive records that data that, but I can't get output to show in my 540 stats. I now have two versions of any ride showing in Garmin Connect, one from each device, and they are slightly different. I have found a way to integrate the two reports in my personal data file, so that problem has been dealt with. My exercise routine is a combination of stretching, some machines, and some free weights. I want a "set and record until I'm done" setting and there isn't one. I am just not going to take the time to start and stop after each rep or set. My time is more valuable than that. I've managed to develop a custom Exercise to somewhat meet the need, but it does not use GPS, so now steps while exercising is not recorded Tai Chi is not Yoga, it is not practiced as a Martial Art, and does not fall into any other category. I am using that custom Exercise previously mentioned, but with the same shortcomings as above. Now the good points. The Heart Rate tracking 24/7. That is very useful for my lifestyle. The device itself is very comfortable for wearing until it needs recharging. Battery life will depend on how many "always on" functions you use and how many are "broadcast". For Cycling it is now my device of choice for my short (3 - 15 KM) errands, despite not recording temperature info. That last is invaluable here in Southern Arizona! All in all, until you feel the need to spend a considerable amount more, this is a good product. If you are a runner, you may find it works better for you and a cyclist would.

So far I like my new Vivoactive 5 BUT I bought it mainly for sleep monitoring. I was disappointed that the sleep score algorithm will not assign a goal below 7 hrs, and it can't be set manually. Since I began using a CPAP for sleep apena about 20 yrs ago, I have never slept that long unless sick or using soporific medications. Six hours is more typical for me. Seven hours of sleep is "sleeping in". Unfortunately this goal restriction will negatively affect my sleep score and "body battery" values when, if fact, there is no reason to. I don't know if a reduced score due to shorter than goal sleep will mask the effects of other sleep quality parameters (REM/Deep/light ratios, HRV etc) or if the score reductions are linear with the actual goal -time difference. I can live with the latter by simply changing my definition of what a "good sleep" score is, but if masking occurs (sleep duration effects change non-linearly) those scores are pretty useless to me and that is why o switched to Garmin. I am disappointed that Garmin does not recognise that some people do not require as much sleep as others while some require a lot more. Seven hours may be a "typical" limit for avoiding sleep deprivation, but denying that there are people that have perfectly healthy sleep less than that seems a bit presumptive. All populations have statistical outliers.

Thing is great, for the most part. Offers most of the features of a watch style fitness tracker in a smaller package. Has Garmin's newest heart rate sensor and gives better sleep tracking with sleep score. GPS comes from your phone, which is fine for something of this size. You also get all of Garmin's data without the need of any extra monthly subscriptions, unlike Fitbit. The only caveat that makes this a 4 Star product is they removed the barometric altimeter from the VS4, which removes its ability to track stair climbing. It would also be nice if there was an always on feature for the OLED screen to read the time. If these things don't bother you, this is easily a 5-Star product.

I previously purchased this identical watch for my 24 year old son when he was going through EMT training and needed certain features for taking vitals. He liked it so much I purchased a second Garmin Vivoactive 5 Warch as a gift for my 60 y.o. husband, . The watch is sleek and stylish and not bulky. He especially likes the ' body battery' tracker indicating when he needs to rest as well as the friendly competitions with random anonymous people to complete a designated number of steps for the week. Lastly, he likes the vibration reminder that nudges him to "get moving" when he has been sedentary for an extended period of time. This is one of the best gifts I have purchased. Highly recommend!

I had a VivoActive 3 and do like the VivoActrive 5 better. It has more vivid colors, it was compatible with my favorite watch face "Rails". It seems brighter but I used to use the 3 for a night light walking through a dark room, but the new one doesn't work for that. The old one I charged once a day, the new one goes about 4 days between charges. The 3 used to use 7% of batteries on walks, the 5 only uses 3%. It doesn't keep trying to change watch faces like the 3 did. Not sure I like the morning update feature. I would like to be able to set the Oxygen sensor to check levels once every 10 minutes during the day along with the night monitor.

Garmin Vivoactive 5 has improved functions - main face with all the information is great. I like the sleep score and information on how to improve it. However, the strength choice on Vivoactive 3 was better than the 5 model. Vivoactive 3 sensed the movements that you were doing in your workout and registered those. Vivoactive 5 does not sense the movements that you are doing. I wrote them in. It also doesn't sense when you are active in weight training, so it says you've done one set, when you've done 12 sets. I wish that the strength portion stayed as good as the Vivoactive 3 model. The 5 model has made other improvements, though.

I am a 79 year old competitive cyclist and purchased the Vivoactive 5 to track my fitness and workouts from my Edge 540 through Garmin Connect. This has been one of the best investments I have made. Because of the 24/7 health data monitoring I was able to identify a health issue which could have been serious. The ability to observe the trends in my health data following cycling workouts and recovery allowed me to identify that I was experiencing periods of AFib. Because of this I was able to take early actions to prevent this from becoming more serious.\nI really appreciate the integration of Garmin devices through Garmin Connect.

My vivosmart watch is very nice and easy to use. I have not had it very long, about a month, so I am still learning how to navigate the features. My most used feature is the pulse ox. I use that to monitor my oxygen while both at rest and upon exercise. The only negative aspect I have run into is it does not hold a charge well. The charge drops significantly in 3-5 days. It does charge pretty quickly though. This is not a major problem for me though. It works a lot more accurately and is more functional than the Fitbit I previously used.

I've owned both a Fitbit and an Apple Watch, and I honestly prefer my Garmin Vivoactive over both! It tracks so much more of my activity, workouts, steps, sleep, heart rate, and overall health metrics. I especially love how much information it gives me without feeling overwhelming. The battery life is also a huge plus compared to my Apple Watch. I've been really impressed with how accurate and useful the tracking is, and I feel like I'm getting much more out of my watch. Definitely one of my favorite fitness watches I've owned!

It looks nice with most of the features from Apple. It connects to my iPhone you just can't respond to a text or answer a call which most of the time is fine cause my phone is nearby. I'm still discovering all the features this watch can do! Great price for a great watch! Glad I switched. I only have to charge the watch about every other week!

I have been wearing the watch for about a month now and really like it. I bought it as a replacement for my vivioactive 4.\r\nMy only complaint is the watch face options. I like a minimalistic watch but most of the options that are minimalistic cost money. Like the only thing I want to see is time, date(day/month), and watch battery. The custom watch face option is cool but after I pick the things I want to see it places them in odd locations so spacing is weird.

I also love the post-workout information that lets me know how each workout has benefited me and how much recovery is recommended. I switched to this watch from an Apple Watch and it’s safe to say I’m never going back. The numbers and data this watch collects seems very accurate and has a seem less connection to strava. This is great for a runner who wants the stats but not great for someone who wants to know every little thing going on in their body.

After being down with an injury I decided to get a new device to help me track steps, etc. The Vivosmart exceeded my expectations. The watch is durable, holds a charge for a good long time and the Garnin Connect App is awesome. Easy integration with My Fitness Pal to log food intake. I use it daily and would purchase again.

Nice to wear. Light. Pretty. Bracelet length a bit just for a man. (see options available depending on your wrist circumference) Many features including pulse measurement, respiratory rate, stress level check, sleep quality measurement. But don't take your blood pressure. Disadvantages: Little memory. For example, it can only keep one golf course in memory. So you have to drag your linked mobile phone in Bluetooth mode.

Watch bands are very hard to change, and my watch has a purple cover around it. Would love to change that and easier watch bands to change out.
