We have always liked Black & Decker's Dust Busters and when our latest one could no longer hold a charge, we quickly bought a new one (Model CHV14OL). It works wonderfully, better than the earlier version. However, the packaging does not show how it is charged. It came with a base to set the vacuum on which would need a shelf or desktop. I had one of their originals which had a battery problem. but they did everything to make it right! So when it was time to get a new one, I went with BD!! This model is soooo light and the pick up is great. It also shows you when the battery is getting low. The only thing I don't care for, is the switch. One click gets you suction, which works good, but to turn it off, you have to click the switch again for high then again to turn off, but no biggy - I like to conserve my clicks! Ha

The suction is not the best. I didn't buy the cheapest, I went one up. I guess maybe\nI should have bought the cheapest. It seemed as if the dust cup was a bit smaller also. I bought one little over year ago, someone helped their self to it so had to buy another. Things are getting smaller on everything.

Quite a cleanup helper! I love my new dustbuster...I especially use it to vacuum my sofa after TV viewing -- lots of bits of chips, popcorn, etc. I also use it to vacuum my mattress when I change my sheets to get rid of dust mites....helps me with my allergies! A real great helper!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I believe this has THE MOST power of any of the handheld vacuums we have used in the past. I love the ease/location for the canister dump. The nozzle is also extendable. My only complaint is that the battery does not last long at all.

I have a bit of a thing for vacuums. I appreciate design and utility. Hand held vacuums can be pretty cheap-o. But this one is decent. It charges up with good power and is perfect for small spaces. Not sure if it would hold up to shop use. Lowes had a decent price.

Very happy with this hand vacuum except for the length of charge and no warning that battery is running down. Full power and then it shut off. This was after about 20 minutes of pretty constant use cleaning hard to reach area. So I am still very happy with it.

The suction is very strong and versitile. However when using on car the little spaces hard to reach with regular vac still are hard to reach with this ... a little disappointing but in all a great little vac.

Works great. I like the extension piece for small spaces. I don't care for the charging stand as it's unstable as I prefer a plug in type charge capabilities.

can vacuum my entire electric vehicle without having to recharge this handheld unit. Has plenty of power and was able to filter %26 pull out dirt %26 dog hair from under seats, between the front seats and console, and in those funky tracks the seats slide forward and backward in (things I couldn't get with a previous handheld.) I have a 1-2 year older and cheaper version of this vac., but this one is my favorite for suction %26 useful attachments like the brush. I still use those two vacs for different purposes. The lithium battery(s)in all 4 units I've owned have lasted. I'm still running a Black and Decker rechargeable handheld that I bought well over a decade ago! Never had a problem with the batteries.

i actually like my old one better. this one is good...just a little on the loud side otherwise no complaints

The Black & Decker 14.4 Li Dustbuster is a GREAT Product that is a high quality portable vacuum cleaner and has more suction power than any other Dustbuster type device I have previously owned. I was a little reluctant about it not having a wall hanging charger, but after receiving this item, I like the base mount charger base better than any other device I reviewed. The long snout reaches into hard to reach places that other type units could not reach.\n\nIn addition, I love the blue LED charge light as it works extremely well for a night light in our laundry room where we keep it.\n\nExcellent Product and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in a portable vacuum device.

The Vacuum works good , but I would prefer a vacuum that has a auto charging storage mount.

Like at least one other poster here, this product alone has led me to vow never to buy another B&D item. Though it does work, and I haven't had it long enough to assess runtime, I noted the following steps backwards right out of the box:\n\nThe mounting screws provided for the wall bracket are slotted. It's significantly more difficult to keep a blade screwdriver in a slot than to keep a Phillips screwdriver in a Phillips screw, especially when installing it in an out-of-the-way location such as low in a corner of a room as I believe many users are likely to do. This increases the chance that the wall will be inadvertently damaged if the screwdriver slips. Thankfully this didn't happen to me, but the installation was made more difficult and frustrating than necessary, for something that probably didn't save B&D a single cent.\n\nThis model does not charge through the wall bracket. This means that every time you take it off or put it on you must remember to unplug the charger first or plug it in afterward. This change might have saved B&D a cent or two of manufacturing cost per unit, but significantly downgrades the user experience. It's no longer a simple "grab & go" when there's a mess to be cleaned up quickly.\n\nThere's a slot in the wall bracket for the charger cord, meant to somewhat compensate for the inconvenience mentioned above by keeping the plug dangling close by when the vac is removed. But it doesn't hold the cord securely at all. I had trouble just getting it to stay in upon initial installation. So I tried to glue it in with a cyanoacrylate gel product and an instant curing spray. To my surprise, I discovered that the bracket is made of one of the two hardest to glue plastics, either polyethylene or polypropylene. Practically nothing sticks to it. The glue wouldn't hold the cord in place. So I had to resort to adhesive tape.\n\nThen there are the design flaws of the vac itself. The flip-out dust brush seems clever at first. But then when you try to use it, you discover that the bristles are too far from the nozzle opening to brush and vacuum in one motion. First you brush to loosen any clingy dust or particles, then you either flip the brush back or hold the vac at a different, low angle (at which the brush is ineffective) to suck up the now-loosened dirt.\n\nFinally, there's the filter design error. For no good or apparent reason, it violates convention by having the outer screen designed as a left-hand bayonet mount (lefty-tighty, righty-loosey). The manual does mention this, and there are nearly invisible markings on the frame of the cloth filter pointing it out too, but I believe there are likely a large fraction of users who won't read the manual, or read it once and forget it later, who will have trouble separating the filter parts. Why, B&D? Just, why?

i like the fact that is cordless and you are able to carry and use anywhere. I also like how strong power it has. I was able to reach small places to dust and most of all is lite weight and i was able to take the dust out of my lamp shades with such ease and with out damaging the cloth or canvas material from it. What I did not like was, that once you fully charge it. The charge did not last long enough for me to finish what I was cleaning. I had to recharge again in order to continue with my shore. This was my first time using after purchase.. I will time it next time..

The Black%26Decker dustbuster is a great little vacuum cleaner. I find it to hold a decent charge and that it has good suction for clean ups around the house. It does NOT come with a wall hanger and it is written in the manual as such. Some reviewers were upset about that - it does have a charge base it can stand in and can be left charging. I love that it has a 2 year warranty . It has easy open dumping bin and the filter can be removed and cleaned.I mainly bought it to suck those ladybug wannabe asian lady beetles out of my windows. I then can let them go outside :)

I literally was super excited to try this out expression I in my car I love how long the battery last after its charged I was able to hang it up with the mounting bracket up on my wall in my closet. Super small area needed to do that very easy to clean out and clean the filter. I also love the amount of dirt that was getting sucked up in such a small superpower fall handheld vacuum.
