Let me be upfront in this review that the subpar rating is not for Home Depot, it is for Clopay and their quality control and overall installation instructions. We recently purchased a home built in 1946 which had an old swing-out style garage door. While some people find those cute, I don't because you can't park in front of them and open the door as well. I purchased this garage door (9ft by 7ft) shortly after Thanksgiving at HomeDepot.com. The price was great at under $600 for the door and tracks. I knew up front it would take up to 2 months to be delivered, but for the price I was willing to wait. \n\nIt was delivered in under two months, and once I had time, I removed the old door and springs and began the process of unpacking the door panels and hardware; first thoroughly reading through all the instructions to get a feel for the process. The process requires putting the door panels up first and then affixing the track system. Well, only after I removed the old door, put the new panels up and temporarily nailed them in place (per the instructions), did I realize I was missing the 4 track brackets which connect the track to the jamb/structure of the garage door. I was also missing the flag brackets which attach the vertical track to the horizontal track (you will get a big box of parts!). I called Clopay and they mailed out via UPS the missing parts, they mentioned similar instances of missing parts on orders when I called. It took 6 business days after my call to receive the parts (all this time I had a non-functioning garage door which was secured via 2x4s I screwed across the door and into the structure to keep it secure).\n\nOnce I got those missing parts, I kept going on the installation stopping once again after I realized the needed 1/4" track bolts were also missing! These affix the track brackets to the track, as well as connecting the curved horizontal piece to the lower piece, pretty important. Well, I had had enough of this and just went to a local garage door company who took pity on me and sold me the 16 needed bolts for a reasonable price. Still, the quality control of the parts is something that needs attention (I called Clopay after this and asked for a refund on the parts I had to buy, I was transferred to somebody which rang and rang for 15 minutes, then the system just said nobody is available and ended the call). This is a major inconvenience to have a garage door locked up for nearly two weeks due to missing parts. Once I got the parts I finished the track, leveled and squared it, and then finished the springs. \n\nA few pointers I will add: 1) The instructions say it will take you 7-8 hours, even without the downtime for parts, I would put that closer to 16 hours (I did this on my own with no help). 2) The instructions need attention. The exploded parts diagrams are drawn at poor detail. There are some instructions that tell the person to connect at a location with multiple hole options, but they don't specify which holes to use. This required me to connect things and then have to undo it once I realized they were not correct, again because I was left to guess in the first place. 3) This kit does not come with the angle steel needed to connect the back horizontal track at the rear. Expect to pay around $100 for the needed steel if you don't already have it. And on that note, for the sway brace it does not specify the needed length. I would recommend using the full edge to edge between the vertical and horizonal opposing brackets (basically forming an Isosceles triangle).\n\nAll in all, I am happy with the door, it functions well and I was able to do all this myself, easily saving $1200-1500 against having it done by a professional overhead door company. The time though I spent trying to get the parts and frustration associated with continuing to find missing parts is not something to be discounted.
