I've never met a sofa bed that was good at being both, and unfortunately this is no exception. The sofa is actually very nice, firm but quite comfortable, and the feel of the fabric is soft and appealing. We bought the dark grey sofa and the color fits well in our home. The bed portion, however, is where things go downhill, as is the case with most sofa beds. The mattress needs to be thin in order to fold into the sofa bottom, so it lacks the support necessary to prevent the bars from being felt when lying on it. It is very noticeable and uncomfortable, which is frustrating given that some other reviews state the opposite. We purchased a support board for sofa beds from another retailer and that definitely helped even out the mattress. We are now ordering a mattress topper to finish the job.\n\nThis is not a bad piece, just know you will have to make additional purchases if you want your guests to have a decent sleep experience.
